The Power of Now (1 Viewer)

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is probably the best spiritual book ever written. It's on a totally different level to M Scott Peck; Deepak Chopra or Wayne W Dyer - possibly because Tolle actually IS enlightened. A.C. Bhaktividenta Prabhupada, the author of "The Science of Self Realisation" and "The Bhagavad-Gita as it is" and founding member of the Krsna consciousness movement, warns of 'rascal' spiritual teachers (like Mansukh Patel, for instance), though Tolle is genuine.

The Power of Now has the potential to change your life, if you're not familiar with the theories of impermanence; the Self being separate from body and mind; the origins and cessation of suffering; corruption; the illusions of past and future etc. But even if you are, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

The Power of Now stresses the importance of living in the present (which hardly anyone ever does - maybe only a handful of people in the entire world live in the now). Everyone usually lives in the past or aspires to the future with no regard for the present, even though the present is the only thing that is real.

Anyone read the book? Thoughts?
