I seriously reccomend Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
Also on this list...short story-wise: Unaccompanied Sonata also by Mr. Card.

And if you haven't read it, Brave New World is basically necessary.

Brave New World is a good example of a great idea poorly executed. If Huxley had been a writer and not a scientist, that would have been a much better book. As it was I struggled (this was some time ago, though).

I thought it was a great book, revealing more about the human condition than he originally intended.

1984 rings a little truer, though. It's much easier to rule through fear and lies than to rule by making everyone ignorantly blissful.

Brave New World definitely seemed to have a very unique view of the future, which I found intriguing. Unfortunately, I did not find all the characters totally believable, and the story did not impress me, but I would like some soma . . . I think that's what it was called . . .

It might have worked better as a short story . . .

I would like to get my hands on Ender's Game sometime.

I think that there are some really beautiful lines in Brave New World. I think it was good.

Definately grab Ender's Game though. It's great.
