Pride and Prejudice....sequeal? (1 Viewer)

I recently saw the movie version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and wanted to get a copy at my local library, so I log on to their website. I found a few titles and something confused me. Besides from CliffNOtes explainations about the book I noticed "sqeals'' to the book that aren't by the same author. In fact, I found several "sequeals", each supposed to take place after Pride and Prejudice, all by different authors. Some were called 'Duty and Desire', 'Mr. Darcy's Dauthers' and so forth. I found a bunch of them, and now I'm confused. Can other people write sequeals to books not their own? And is there an actual sequeal written by the author or do these count as sequeals?

I'm very confused so some help would be nice. Thanks.
