In academia it's necessary to have a C.V. - the arrangement/format is often varied, but the types of contents - the categories - are usually the same regardless of the academic.

My newbie question is this: is there a common type of resume that authors use in the literary world? Standard formats or categories? I'm going to have to start a new one if I'm going to make a serious attempt in this business. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

In the literary world it is best practice to check out the submission guidelines for the market you want to approach and then follow them carefully. In the non-fiction world credentials carry more weight than in fiction markets, but in both, the product, and its suitability for the chosen market is paramount.
