68,880 on Pinocchio, but I may have to scrap some of it or use parts of said conversation later in the book. Characters are being a pain, so I'm getting weird dialogue and interactions that I don't want yet or that don't fit where they are now.

68,512. Yup, you read that right. I've taken out a lot of versions of the same dang scene, rewritten them, and still am not back to the former word count of some of the failures. Added failed conversations to the back matter to glean from them as I can. Working out on revising the plot. May wind up taking the whole scene out and having it show up later... preferably at some point when they're not so moody.

69,935. Made two chapters out of what I kept from the last two days of writing, plus what I wrote today. Not sure if I'll write anymore today. On the one hand, I'm feeling icky and might not be able to sleep, but on the other hand, I'm also on Benedryl and might not be able to avoid going to sleep, no matter how much my guts are screaming at me.

73,395. Got two chapters worth of stuff out but haven't finished the scene necessarily and will have to break it all up tomorrow.

Pinocchio's almost got himself a chunky kitty--and he caused Surrey some needless drama over it. Definitely some surprises.

74,207. Less than I would've liked. Worked on back matter, too, and had a lot of other stuff to be doing today. Brain power's all sapped. I'm exhausted, on Benedryl, feeling sick, and needing more Benedryl.

Not sure how the babies or the cats fit into the Pinocchio tale originally. The Cat has many meanings in the context of the story I'm writing, but I'm not sure how the literal cats fit in otherwise. I know why they're getting a cat though, and it makes total sense in-character for them to get one (even if not everyone's caught onto the reasons yet). I guess the literal cats also tie into the Cat's sick kitten, which was used as an excuse for the Fox and the Cat to run off without Pinocchio so they could rob him later. But in this case, the kitten (baby, as well as literal cats) really are going to be ill. I guess one could say that if Pinocchio knocks someone up, she not only "turned him into a real boy" but also made a "real boy" after "kissing him". Dunno. Going to have to keep working with/at it.
