Is it reasonable to say I am intimidated? I have recently put my first novel on Kindle which in some ways is simply to test the waters. I have been sitting on it for ten years never getting to the point where I thought it was complete. It may still not be but I was encouraged by some new friends and at last it is out there.

The delay has in some ways been determined by the work I do and the places I am obliged to do it in. They are mostly cleaning up messes that others leave behind. Places such as Kosovo, Afghanistan and Pakistan. I was inclined to do something of a memoirs but felt that it is too presumptuous particularly in light of the flowback coming out of inaccuracies in Three Cups of Tea. To get around that I thought I would include all the anecdotes I have acquired over the years into a series of crimes stories that at the same time will allow me to express some of the convictions I hold concerning aspects of humanitarian work, in particular, the high levels of corruption that exists, the waste and the futility.

I am very interested in gaining some meaningful feedback on the Fifth Wife when I reach the point where I can post some chapters.

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to becoming a useful contributor and something more than an Ink Blot.

Welcome Etherus. Ahhh...we all have to start somewhere and for a writer, what better way than an inkblot :) Reminds me of being a kid with that darned ballpoint pen leaving blots every time I tried to write something

I think that your idea for your stories is interesting. Anecdotes can get the point across without being preachy. Good luck with that project. I'll look for your posts of it when you get to that point.

I read your take on your stray mom with kits. She sounds like she has an attitude that has helped her survive so far.

The Powers That Be will most likely take that into consideration, yes. I didn't ask for these, I simply said, "Thank you" to Baron when they appeared. The whole awards idea is still kind of new. :)
