I have no scientific theory about how I edit. What I do is read, re-read, and re-read. I wait a day and do the same thing again. It is amazing how much I miss the first time around. I have to edit several times before I submit anything to be considered for publication.

I am very clueless about editing and rather impatient at it too. I often find re-reading, dilutes emotions , or maybe that's because I didn't do a good enough job in the first place? How many versions do you keep Serenditpity? Do you have many draft copies before you submit for publication?

It depends on what specifically you're discussing. Are you talking about typos? Cleaning up sentences? Correcting plot issues? Something else? Some combination of these?
