    Tyrian Purple

    Tyrian Purple

    Tyrian purple
    the embodiment
    of privilege, worth

    and drama

    the reek of fish

    a variegation of history
    so the books say

    in retrospect

    I look...

    to cotton
    to indigo

    deep and rich

    without the stench
    of decayed life

Liked this; just a thought - need the last three lines? To me they seem to explain the poem. Keep up the good work.
"Put not your trust not in princes, in the children of men,
in whom there is no salvation."
    Psalm 146

    Timely, isn't it?

I didn't have the last three lines in the original version, they were a first draft edit that I was on the fence about. Do they work, yes, but does it defeat the purpose of the allegory, yes. I took them off again. Thank you for the read and insight.
