You can never hate something so thoroughly as that which destroys what you love, and who is more guilty of this crime than the stranger who was once a lover?

Fun! Am I seeing a smile at the end of line three
“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do" — Rumi

    Compulsory Valentine

you're all legs, at least since the amputations
and statuesque not in beauty but in motivation
    larger than life: epitomized
you're such a sore sight, four eyes
You can never hate something so thoroughly as that which destroys what you love, and who is more guilty of this crime than the stranger who was once a lover?

    Peacefully

Closed doors and windows barely muffle
    the sirens' unending wail
You sit up in your bed and ask
    if everything is okay
I tell you a lie and make you smile
if only for a little while

    "Inoperable, so it's hopeless?"
    The second opinion nods
    I hear your laughter echoing
from the near by waiting room
What does he know? False hope is still hope,
and I can give you that

Smoke fills the air above our heads
as the ceiling and walls burn
"My coat is fire proof," I say,
"It will keep the flames at bay."
Within my embrace, I cover your face
and save you from the truth
You can never hate something so thoroughly as that which destroys what you love, and who is more guilty of this crime than the stranger who was once a lover?

    Held In Silent Prayer

I'm keeping quiet and I'm staying silent
    Can't give into pain
I know I'll let it go,
    regrets and grief will flow,
if I dare to speak your name

    I'm keeping quiet, but knowing I can't
    if I can't stay calm
    Locked knees and straight feet
    Pulsing broken heart beat
    Blurry eyes and sweaty palms

    I'm keeping quiet, remaining defiant
    Can't let a tear fall
    Stay strong till it's over
    Cuz if I lose composure
then I know I'll lose it all

This is a very beautiful poem, and with so much sadness in it.
I was wondering about the word in red. Did you mean 'composure', or did I miss something here?

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!

    The sounds around my home
They pelt and pound my skull
    Motor spurts and mower sprays
    Rickshaw rattle weed wackers' dull
my senses down and won't go away
    All around they surround me...
    Leave me alone!

    The Moment Before The Brawl

His grin broken by a low-brow domestic that shattered as it did the same to his jaw.
The assailant's cigar smoke couldn't cushion that first blow nor the second from the fall.
Shocked gasps of panic spread across the faces of a female troop seated by the bar.
That is except for one sandy hair framed face, which smirked at what its cloudy grey eyes saw.
That's how men settled scores back then: no pretense, no puffery, just raw.
You can never hate something so thoroughly as that which destroys what you love, and who is more guilty of this crime than the stranger who was once a lover?
