    Which way is correct

I am having problems with some sentences and grammar. For instance ....... "So that is what we did." ......Is the answer to a question.

Should it be ....."So, that is what we did." ...... or ......"So. That is what we did."

Grammar checkers tell me there should be something after 'So'. But is is a comma or a full stop?......... Or is it neither and should be how it was written originally?

If anything, I would think it would be a comma. Depending what you're doing I think you could make an argument for any of the three. Try reading these aloud and see what you think.

"So that is what we did," she said as she jogged out the door.
"So, that is what we did," he said primly, adjusting his glasses.
"So. That is what we did," the thespian struck a pose.
"So. That! Is what we did!" said William Shatner.

Have you seen The Royal Shakespeare Company's variations on "to be or not to be"? Absolutely hilarious!
