Update to Poetry Challenge Rules!!! Beginning in March 2019

    Update to Poetry Challenge Rules:

All Poetry Challenge entries will be submitted to the Challenge Host, who will then post them anonymously.

Challenge entries should not be posted anywhere else within the forum during the active phase of the challenge (this includes the forum Blogs, Groups or other challenges).

Challenge entries may have been posted on the forum, prior to the challenge, but need to have fallen to page 3 (in default setting) or beyond, or to have been without comment for 3 months, to be eligible for entry.

You may post your entry after the challenge cycle has ended and the winner(s) are announced, for individual critique and comment elsewhere.

Can we use the like button on the anonymous entries?
"Illegitimi non carborundum " Vinegar' Joe Stilwell

"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase." Martin Luther King Jr.

What you learn in life is important, those you help learn, are more important.

"They can because they think they can."

"Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools will speak to say something." Plato

"The only difference between reality and fiction is that fiction needs to be credible."
     Mark Twain

"To those of you who received honors, awards and distinctions, I say well done. And to the C students, I say you, too, can be president of the United States." George W. Bush

We did so in the past when the challenge was anonymous, so I don’t see a problem with it. Only crappy thing is, as the poster, the like gets sent to me, but the poets will still see their work has been liked within the thread itself.

If there are ten poems posted and you "like" nine of them then we all know which poem you wrote. My point is that it dilutes the spirit of anonymity.

That’s true if someone likes every piece, which is unlikely but not impossible, therefore, because there is the possibility that someone may inadvertently reveal their identity, which would result in their entry being disqualified, KINDLY REFRAIN FROM USING THE LIKE FUNCTION during the run of the challenge. Once our winner is announced, you may “like”away if you are so inclined.

I will be sure to include these instructions in the next opening post.

Appreciate the astute observation, Tim. Thank you.

We've a new update to the rules. Henceforth, kindly refrain from using the "like" function, or offering critique on any of the entries, UNTIL OUR WINNER IS ANNOUNCED. We are implementing this policy in an effort to protect anonymity as well as to spare our entrants the agony of being unable to respond to any critique they may receive for what could conceivably seem like eons. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
