    Penny for the Guy?

    Nobody took any notice
of the children or their motives.
    Not yet teenagers,
    never mind the dangers
    taking money from strangers
    to buy explosives.

I feel like this could be reworked into a limerick fairly easily, and considering the punch at the end, it's a fitting form for the theme of the piece.
You can never hate something so thoroughly as that which destroys what you love, and who is more guilty of this crime than the stranger who was once a lover?

hello Andrew - thank you for reading and commenting.

yes, it could be a limerick - but wouldn't that be boring....

if you must, simply append the final line to the penultimate.

Well done. A sad and timely poem. I usually prefer Internal Rhyming but yours works for me.

Uncertain, but I think this might be correct.

    A fine piece. Laurie
