Poem of the Month: April 2018 Nominations

Pre-prattle to the usual info: If you're reading something poetry related I'm hoping you are well aware that it is currently national poetry writing month. This means a host of members will be attempting to write a piece a day for the whole of this month. I'm happy to accept any NaPoWriMo pieces as nominations, but as usual make sure they are from the open section - no workshop pieces. Other than that, good luck to all the participating poets. Now back to scheduled programming...

Poet of the Month is less a challenge and more a community award. With the help of all our members we would like to give some recognition to the fine work produced on these forums. All you have to do is nominate any pieces you think are worthy. Once the nominations close, all you have to do is remember to vote for the nominated piece you think is the best.

    The important (short) rules:

    • The piece must be originally posted in the correct month. (April 2018 )
    • The piece must be from the poetry boards.
    • Workshop pieces are not valid for nomination.
    • The person who gives a nomination may be asked to write a short review/comment.
    • Nominations close on the 5th of May.

The winner will be given a WF POTM award, similar to it's prose counterpart.

If anyone has any further questions check out the announcement thread in the main poetry board or feel free to send me a message.
It didn't take long to realise
The safest place was not her arms, but her eyes
    Where she can't see you
    For her gaze, it blisters;
    Grey skin to cinders

From the main (open) NaPo forum, I'd like to nominate >> Deconstructed <<

"Darren White's a poet of our time
    Wrote about injustice and crime
    To great acclaim
    He laid the blame
What a shame he couldn't think of a word that sounded the same."

    - Ned (during NaPoWriMo)

You're not on that many yet, if you nominate ten poems then it'll start being questionable...
