    Jenthepen clinches Grand Fiction Challenge

    With a tremendous average score of 18 out of 20, jenthepen's story 'Double' wowed the judges to claim this year's WF Grand Fiction Challenge.

    Writing Forums to run Google Ads

    In a special fundraising message regarding the plight of WF's finances, senior staff member Gumby announced that WF will be introducing Google Ads over the coming months to help offset the costs of maintaining the site and improving member experience.

    NaPoWriMo coming up

    April is National Poetry Writing Month and with it the challenge to write 30 poems in 30 days.
    Any form or style is welcome, as long as it is poetry. Are you up to the mind-blowing challenge of composing a poem a day for a month? Better bring a spare pen and hit the link for further details - what is NaPoWriMo?

    'In like a lion, out like a lamb' says the famous proverb.

    If it refers to the weather, then those of us in South Wales can certainly agree with the lion!

    Officially Storm Emma, the tabloids are calling it 'The Beast from the East!'

    Challenges and Contests

    Literary Manoeuvres is our monthly fiction challenge.
    Entrants have until the 18th to post a story using the given prompt - this month, 'Locked Inside'.
    The winner is decided by a panel of volunteer judges, with marks and feedback given on the basic elements of fiction.

    March Challenge is our monthly poetry challenge.
    Entrants have until the 15th to post a poem using the given prompt - this month, 'A Touch of Grace'.
    The winner is decided by a poll open to all members - if you enter, you must vote.
    Further details can be found in the link.

    Non-Fiction March 2018 is our monthly non-fiction challenge.
    As the host puts it - 'This month's challenge is to write an essay. Have you ever felt passionate about something?
    Yes, then tell us about it in a 700 word or less essay. This is a chance to show a wide audience your point of view...'
    The challenge closes on the 27th - with judges' marks deciding the winner. Details in the link.

    March PiP Challenge is a unique monthly challenge based on poetical improvement.
    After posting their poems, entrants receive feedback and revise their work accordingly, or not.
    A poll open to all members decides the most improved poem. Terms and conditions in the link.

    Colours of Fiction tests the ability to continue or interpret a given short story.
    The challenge closes on March 31st when judges will decide the winner. Further details in the link.

    Limelight
    featured author Duane Pesice (moderan), after the recent release of his new anthology 'Test Patterns'.


    The WF Author Interview focused on poetry and short story writer, Neetu Malik.
    Often painfully honest, learn why and how she fled India, discover her trance method of writing poetry, and share in the heartfelt motivations of why she continues to write.



    Around the Forums

    Poem and Story of the Month is where you can nominate another member's work posted on the public forums.
    Does that story deserve more glory? - nominate it here. Does that poetry shake your tree? - shout it up.

    Congratulations to the winners of our annual prize Literary Maneuvers challenge 2018 .

    To be in the prize money next year, either win a Literary Maneuvers or CoF Challenge or have judged 5+ challenges to qualify.
