Anita, I haven't tried Amazon giveaways yet, but I have given away lots of free books via different methods (Goodreads, my book website, etc.) and that is usually a good way to get the word out and encourage reviews. Please report back and let us know if you get any reviews from your Amazon giveaway.

Usually lowering the price (for marketing purposes) is typically done as a way to help sell a new book. I started reading the Inhuman series because the writer had discounted the first few books into a single book package for a buck or two. I read them and was hooked---and had to buy the new book.

The logic is that after the first year, the gold has played out on that book so you sacrifice it to sell the new book(s).
