Hello and welcome! In 1999, the 21 of March was declared World Poetry Day by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). World Poetry Day was created withthe aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard. Celebrating one of humanity’s most treasured forms of cultural and linguistic expression, poetry; poetry speaks to our common humanity and our shared values, transforming the simplest of poems into a powerful catalyst for dialogue and peace.

This is why we have decide to celebrate with the rest of the world by posting your best Micro Poems on twitter using the Hashtag
If you are new and are not sure what a micro poem is... well it is a poem no more than 140 characters in length including the title.

As the aim of World Poetry Day is to promote a united world through poetry we have a theme for this challenge -

    World Peace!

So let your fingers do the talking and let us see your best micro poems about world peace!

“Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.”
-- Douglas Adams, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

"Failure? There's no such thing as failure, only early attempts at success."
    -- The Love Guru

"It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewere, would much rather you weren't doing."

If the whole world were Christian
with the schism in the mix,
    righteous Protastants would still hate
    the pompous Catholics.

If the whole world were Jewish,
    all our daughters and sons,
one tribe or another would always claim
    to be the chosen ones.

If the whole world were Muslim,
we would still live in fear
    in a world divided
between the Sunni and the Shi'a.

If the whole world were Buddhist.......

    now, there's good idea!

    How sweet
    the honeysuckle wine -
Is this what it is to be a bee?
A man in possession of a wooden spoon must be in want of a pot to stir.
