Looks like in a cemetery. My guess, Italian.

    Such grief. Unbearable grief.

I owe you to say that there's a certain cemetary in Staglieno near Genova, which is famous for its angel sculptures
    Here are some:

(look at the fingers in no. 5 - one faulty carving, and a finger would be off )

The first one here is called 'Monteverde Angel' or 'The Angel of resurrection', here are some details:

I want to draw the attention to Kay Sage again.
After Yves Tanguy's death she painted the beneath painting, which to me easily could be inspired of one of the sculptures in Staglieno

bobo...yes! so similar. That painting was one of my favorite of hers. There's something about the woman's softness against the hard architectural surrounding. It makes her look despondent over her circumstance. Hmmm.

Despondent - yes - sitting before the vast unknown, as she was after his death.
An unknown and surroundings, which seemed totally grey-in-grey-in-grey-in-grey.
This painting of Sage was very different in style than her rest, so I first thought it wasn't by her, hence had to research it an extra time - but it was.
As for the comparison to the angel: the hair, the back, and the drapings - very alike, yet somewhat apart

Good day, Dear bobo... I loved the pics you posted, but the first and last are my favorite... The first one has so much drama in every line of the Angel's body, it is clear what is being expressed... fabulous... The last pic is so stunning, the fragile curves of her face, the gentle vibe, the innocent expression in her eyes, and OOo those eyes... I don't think I would ever get tired of studying her face... imagine, being skilled enough to create such softness from stone. I have always been intrigued with angels, my mom and I studied the role they had in the Bible.... thank you for sharing...

Fire, FYI: you have written a wonderfully poetic line...."softness in stone". You should put a poem around it. sas

    There you was, magic
    something was greatly missing
    until you showed up

    Can you blow angels ??

yes, those facial expressions, and eyes are out of this world,
the artist has done it with so much more empathy, and love
that those we see with Michelangelo's David fade to be
just expressions of a sullen young man.

    Hunger In The Cradle

It's truly a shame in our day and time
that a child goes hungry: it is truly a crime.
We say look ahead to a bright new dawn,
but tell that to a mother when her child is gone.

The baby died in her arms, she fell fast asleep.
They're used to it now, they don't even weep.
The sickness, the death, it's not in a dream.
It is so close to home, but it's not even seen.

The cities, the slums, the famine, the drought -
we've got to do something, it won't work itself out.
There's food n the world, let's show that we care.
The children are dying, it is so hard to bear.

Many are dying, and many more dead.
No food, no clothes, cold ground for a bed.
It's a serious thing, and oh it's so fatal.
    LISTEN TO ME WORLD!
    There's hunger in the cradle
