Thread: The Official Writing Forums Mental Health Support Thread (READ RULES FIRST!!!)

I have a parent with arthritis and the other is very stubborn. Imagine how dependent my mother became to my father. I try to help her. My psychiatry problems need a psychologist which my parents have neglected.

While my father never took a psychology exam or Myer briggs I feel the link describes him. I looked it up based on stubborness.

I think psychologists are undervalued and underpaid where I am from. I would have gone to the best but my own father always ignores my own requests to go.

My mother went into a marriage and never divorced because he has a lot of money and she still loves him. That's even after an affair and some other trouble.

I believe psychology can help people deal with fears justified or unjustified. I hope some of my story and anecdote helps you. Sometimes to explain something a teacher uses an anecdote. Sort of like a lived experience. I hope this post is relatable. I read your post but decided to answer with my own life story. Sometimes we can make a decision based on what other people go through. It's a difficult situation I can say. But you read my story. The take away point can be believable if you think what could help me could help someone in your family or close friend to you or you yourself. Or anyone you know. It's not an opinion but a choice I would make it possible only if you think it helps. I have a fear of leaving the house myself sometimes because of the anxiety. This anxiety is what many people experience. Any problem that is experienced with fear can grow with too much anxiety. I take medicine for anxiety. I hope I wrote a post that is good advice.

My life experience may differ from yours but is probably relatable to someone on some level. My problems started since very young. I may have problems because tics activate out of nervousness. I need to see my psychiatrist because of that. It all starts with behavior displayed by people who don't know how to behave or refuse to seek advice. Help is not difficult to find as in if you experience fear then my post is relatable. If not please don't think this is offensive. I have good intentions in mind whenever I post.

I would follow as in believe in the words of good moral leaders. Rather than the beliefs of oneself.

It's not exactly anxiety, and I have a counselor, it's just frustrating.

Good. That is what I need myself to improve my mental heatlh. The medicine does not do everything. You are getting the help people avoid and need on a regular basis.

Sadly, the required treatment is surgical and would need to be paid for in cash. Bleah.
I was just incredibly frustrated at the restriction. I miss swimming.

Serious question ó I have a friend (who lives in the UK) with chronic depression who often tells me he feels no one likes him (including me) despite numerous times Iíve told him I felt otherwise. Heís in one of those moods again and Iím not sure what to do at this point. 😞 I just worry that if he kills himself (unlikely, hopefully) Iíll feel like Iíve failed him. Like I couldíve done more than the platitude ďI like youĒ.

He even asked me if I would go to his funeral if he died. What the eff do you say to that?! I donít have the money to fly across the ocean, but I worry that his depression will tell him that this is proof that I donít care.

What the hells can I do?

There are plenty of forums on the net which specialise in issues of depression where you can seek an opinion. OR better still, if you think this guy is serious, take professional advice on how to deal with the situation. Whatever you say to this guy, he ain't listening and IMHO it is nothing more than emotional blackmail to even suggest you fly across the Atlantic and come to his funeral.

Well there you go: that's why you don't ask on a writing forum for advice on how to deal with suicide threats.
