    yes,
    you are right of course.
    Apologies qwertyman.
If i post a comment on a "WIP", LOOK! I'm a reader that's all, and i can only tell how i feel, as a READER, giving/offering feedback. Hoping to learn and grow here. So please, tell me where i'm going wrong.

Me? I'm just a fly on the wall.

    Look! I'm trying, okay?

One can but dream, if only i had dared.

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong" Mahatma Gandhi.
    Alas, i am weak.

I must find a way to Eastbourne and i so wish that i could dance.

Free Dictionary treats "pick up" by itself and always keeps the up with pick. For example:

    2. To collect or gather: picked up some pebbles.

    From Mirriam-Webster:

b: to gather together :collect<picked up all the pieces>
How to write a good start: Hidden Content . Useful, original information. Long and thorough.
Includes Hidden Content (do you start with description?), Hidden Content (a favorite with publishers apparently), starting with Hidden Content (a lost art), and more.

I don't think it really matters. I suspect there are variations pertaining to region, education level etc. but whichever you choose will feed into the voice of the narrator so make sure you stay consistent.
