When teenagers and early twenties do not have any idea what it is like being old.
If you talk to a cat they look at you as if you are way below their intelligence to even listen.
However, when you talk to a dog they look at you with such admiration and really do seem to understand what you are saying.

You are talking to a younger person about how heroes have changed over the years. To illustrate a point you mention Joe DiMaggio only to discover that the young person has never heard of him.
