    I'm a True Blue Hippy

    I'm a true blue hippy;
    Although I'm forty-three
I still chase after fairies, and
    Commune with Gypsy Lee.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    I'm mellow as they come,
I get that way by chanting "om"
    Or banging on a drum.

    I'm a true blue hippy
Who loves to hug the trees,
    Preferring over meat and fish
    Organic veg and cheese.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    Who worships rain and sun,
    And after eating three-bean stew
The wind and I are one.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    With flowers in my hair,
Wear tie-dye tops from Oxfam shops
    And psychedelic flares.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
Don't care too much for shoes,
And underneath my hemp seed shirt,
My bra I like to lose.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    Belong to CND,
My body is a temple, but
    My love is always free.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    I drink disgusting tea,
    Reach altered states of consciousness
    Through weed and LSD,

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    Still roll my every fag,
Adore Bob Dylan, (he's far out!)
    And Lennon's just my bag.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
    I get a groovy buzz,
When at a Greenpeace demo, I'm
    Arrested by the fuzz.

    I'm a true blue hippy,
Repress me if you can -
I doubt you can catch up with my
    Fluorescent camper van!

A wonderful "trip" through the eyes of a true blue hippy and I laughed out loud. Nicely worded, bouncing along rhythm, lovely rhymes. Thank you.

I love it! Thank you for the laugh it has given me!
If you talk to a cat they look at you as if you are way below their intelligence to even listen.
However, when you talk to a dog they look at you with such admiration and really do seem to understand what you are saying.
Even if it is a bit silly...
...they still think you are wonderful.

This was great! A pleasant read and a poet after my own heart. I have a few that have been done in similar fashion. The difference between them is that yours has more character and flair. I look forward to reading more.

I fell in love with this radical poem... Mood, message, rhythm and rhyme flowed as smooth as a stoner's day dream... unique and original with a very clever sense of humor... fabulous..
She lost herself in the trees,
    among the ever-changing leaves.
She wept beneath the wild sky
as stars told stories of ancient times.
The flowers grew toward her light,
the river called her name at night.
She could not live an ordinary life,
with the mysteries of the universe
    hidden in her eyes....

Well, people reacted better than I thought. OK, I'll come out and say it.

    I really liked this line:

    Reach altered states of consciousness
    Through weed and LSD

I can relate to this unique perspective on life unavalible anywhere else or any other way.

The rags to riches story of a scavenger.

Please PM me if you would give any amount a whirl!
