    Hello Folks

Following this string of posts that made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever - and, yes, I know what the words 'cause' and 'effect' mean, and I'm familiar with how a scientist might investigate an occurrence of cause and effect - I googled 'cause and effect' and still nothing is any clearer for me.

Talking about a 'cause and effect paragraph' makes about as much sense to me as talking about a 'weather' paragraph or a 'widget' paragraph or a ''happy' paragraph.

I'm sorry to be obtuse, Amel, but I still have no idea what, exactly, you have been asked to do.

Have you been asked to write a paragraph presenting an example of cause and effect such as 'If I disconnect the circuit - the cause, the lamp will go out - the effect'? Or have you been asked to write a paragraph about a situation where you can see what looks like an effect - a string of murders by a serial killer - and you're suggesting with an effect like this it's really difficult to determine the cause?

And I'm not sure why, exactly, you've been asked to create a paragraph using 'academic writing'.

Maybe if you came back to us with a little information on where you are - high school, college or university, what class this assignment is for and how this assignment fits in with the other work you're doing in this class, we could be more help.

    Warmest regards
    Riis

    Live and learn Amel.

If they say you did a perfect job you must have made the cut at the very least.

There's no harm in striving for improvement but give yourself a break eh?

Don't be so hard on yourself.
