    The Literary Maneuver Guide

So how does this thing work?

    • First off we choose a theme. Anyone may suggest a theme regardless of how long they've been apart of the community. To do
so, you’d post your suggestion into the LM Coffee Shop thread. Your post is treated as a nomination until seconded by another
user; once that’s done your theme suggestion is eligible to be put into the voting. The voting will begin according to schedule
and the theme with the most votes is the prompt for the next competition.
    • Next up comes the hard part: writing your story. But once that’s done it’s a breeze to enter the competition. You simply post
your story into the current month’s competition thread, which looks a little something like Month YYYY - LM - Theme Name and is
located here. If you wish to post anonymously, you send your story to the person hosting the month’s competition and they’ll post
it for you. If you wish to maintain all rights to your story, you would post it in the workshop thread, which looks almost exactly as
the regular thread but is located here. You’d then post a link to your story in the main competition thread. Don’t forget that part,
because if you do then you’ll risk being disqualified from the competition.
    • The month's competition ends on the 14th of the given month. Unless delayed.
    • Your entry is then scored by a panel consisting of four judges. They score your story and write a review of it explaining why
you were given that score. Your score is the average of all four judge’s scores. To see how judges are chosen and all that it entails, click here.
    • I may have lied to you. This might actually be the hard part: waiting for the results. We can’t always guarantee a specific date for
the judges to complete their reviews, so your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the day they’ll be revealed. You’re left
guessing; they could show up any time between the 15th and the 31st of the month.

    • All forum rules apply. The LM competition is considered a creative area of the forum. If your story contains inappropriate language
or content, do not forget add a disclaimer or it could result in disciplinary actions taken. Click here for the full list of rules and
      guidelines of the forum.
    • No Poetry! Nothing against you poets out there, but this isn’t a place for your poems. Head on over to the poetry challenges
for good competition over there. Some of us fiction people wouldn’t be able to understand your work! Click here for the poetry
    • No posts that are not entries into the competition are allowed in the challenge threads. If you have any questions, concerns,
or wish to take part in discussion please head over to the LM Coffee Shop. We’ll be glad to take care of your needs over there.
    • Don’t post threads in the LM forum. Same as the above. Any questions, concerns or comments, you take those to the coffee shop.
    • Editing your entry after posting isn’t allowed. You’ll be given a ten minute grace period, but after that your story may not be scored.
    • Only one entry per member, per challenge.
    • No liking entries until the scores go up.
    • The word limit is 650 words not including the title. If you go over - Your story will not be counted.

You’ll receive a badge and a one month subscription to FoWF, which gives you access to hidden forums and the chat room.

We try to stick to a schedule around here. However, things do come up and we may not always be exactly on time. But we stick with it as best we can. All times in the LM are GMT based. For help knowing the current time, see here.
