I used to be on an endless run
Believed in miracles 'cause I'm one
I've been blessed with the power to survive
After all these years I'm still alive
I'm out here kickin with the band
I am no longer a solitary man
    Everyday my time runs out
Live like a fool, that's what I was about
    Oh I belive in miracles
I believe in a better world for me and you
Oh Oh I believe in miracles
I believe in a better world for me and you
Tattooed your name on my arm
I always said my girl's a good luck charm
If she can find a reason to forgive
Then I can find a reason to live
I used to be on an endless run
Believed in miracles 'cause I'm one
I've been blessed with the power to survive
After all these years I'm still alive
    Oh I believe in miracles
I believe in a better world for me and you
Oh Oh I believe in miracles
I believe in a better world for me and you
I close my eyes and think how it might be
    The future's here today
It's not too late, it's not too late oh
    I believe in miracles
I believe in a better world for me and you
    Oh I believe in miracles
I believe in a better world for me and you

    [I]"The world stands out on either side No wider than the heart is wide;
Above the world is stretched the sky, No higher than the soul is high.
    The heart can push the sea and land Farther away on either hand;
The soul can split the sky in two, And let the face of God shine through.
    But East and West will pinch the heart That can not keep them pushed apart;
And he whose soul is flat -- the sky -- Will cave in on him by and by."

    Idiot box rulers

    Eye on the TV
    'cause tragedy thrills me
    Whatever flavour
    It happens to be like;
    Killed by the husband
    Drowned by the ocean
    Shot by his own son
She used the poison in his tea
    And kissed him goodbye
    That's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies-

Mumford and Sons, Awake my soul

How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don't know
My weakness I feel I must finally show

Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all
But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall
Lend me your eyes I can change what you see
But your soul you must keep, totally free

    The Antlers - Kettering

I wish that I had known in that first minute we met, the unpayable debt that I owed you.
'Cause you'd been abused by that bone that refused you, and you hired me to make up for that.

Walking in that room when you had tubes in your arms, those singing morphine alarms out of tune.
They kept you sleeping and eating, and I didn't believe them when they called you a hurricane thunderclap.

When I was checking vitals I suggested a smile. You didn't talk for a while, you were freezing.
You said you hated my tone, it made you feel so alone, and so you told me I ought to be leaving.

But something kept me standing by that hospital bed, I should have quit but instead I took care of you.
You made me sleep all uneven, and I didn't believe them when they told me that there was no saving you.

    Alphaville - Forever Young

Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while
Heaven can wait, we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?

Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music's for the sad men

Can you imagine when this race is won
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders, we're getting in tune
The music's played by the, the mad men

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever?
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever? Forever young

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later, they all will be gone
    Why don't they stay young?

It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth's like diamonds in the sun
    And diamonds are forever

So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
    We let them come true

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever?
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever?

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?

    These are my favorite lyrics

That is really difficult. Either this bit of Cliffs of Gallipoli by Sabaton:
    At the shoreline
Blood of heroes stains the land
    Light a candle
One for each of them who fought and died in vain

Or the first and last verses of Quite Suddenly by Phil Keaggy:
Quite suddenly, it may be at the turning of a lane
Where I stand to watch a skylark soar from out of the swelling grain
That the trump of God shall thrill me with its call so loud and clear
And I'm called away to meet him whom of all I hold most dear
Quite suddenly, it may be as I lie in dreamless sleep
God's gift to many a sorrowing heart with no more tears to weep
That a call shall break my slumber and a voice sound in my ear
Rise up, my love, and come away, behold the Bridegroom's here

Or this bit of A Portage to the Unknown by Turisas:
An endless trail in front of my eyes
A swift take off, had no time for goodbyes
What will we find, and what was left behind?
There's no return, get it off your mind

This bit of Chalice by Phil Keaggy:
Should we do wrong, should we refuse
    To listen to the Master
Who went on before that we walk in his steps
Before too long we run away
    And running even faster
We fail to see the promise that he kept

Or these bits of The Seeing Eye by Phil Keaggy:
Lights of heaven your fingers traced
Fixed and marked by stitch of time
This I know of the seeing eye
You want us to see you
And to our souls was brought new birth by the goodness of your Word
All the roads we've ever been upon
All the dreams that carry us along
All the hopes we put into a song
    Lead us back to you
And as for man whose days are as the grass
    Without you, we won't last
Like a flower in the wind we shall pass
You're the road we need to be upon
You're the dream that carries us along
You're the hope we put into a song
You're the door inviting us to come and see you

Or most of As the Ruin Falls by Phil Keaggy with credit to poet C.S. Lewis for the lyrics:
Peace, reassurance, pleasure are the goals I seek
I cannot crawl an inch outside my proper skin
I talk of love; a scholars parrot may talk Greek, but
Self-imprisoned, always end where I begin
Only that now you have taught me (but how late!) my lack
    I see the chasm
And everything you are was making my heart into a bridge
By which I might get back from exile, and grow man
And now the bridge is breaking
For this I bless you as the ruin falls
The pains you give me are more precious than all other gains

    BOOM!, System of a Down

I've been walking through your streets,
Where all you MONEY 's earning,
    Where all your building's crying,
    And clueless neckties working,
    Revolving fake LAWN houses,
    Housing all your fears,
    Desensitized by TV,
    overbearing advertising,
    God of consumerism,
And all your crooked PICTURES ,
    Looking GOOD , mirrorism,
    Filtering information,
    For the public eye,
    Designed for profiteering,
    Your neighboor, what a guy.

Just about anything by Tool, but I found Wings for Marie Parts One and two particularly touching as it realted to his dying mother:

    You believed
You believed in movements none could see
    You believed in me

    A passionate spirit
    Uncompromise
    Boundless and open
    A light in your eyes
    Then immobilized

    Broken, broken
Fell at the hands of those movements I wouldn't see
Yet, it was you who prayed for me
So, what have I done to be a son to an angel?
What have I done to be worthy?

    Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescents
Difficult to see you in this light
Please forgive this selfish question, but
What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight?

    She never told a lie
    Well might've told a lie
    But never lived one
    Didnt have a life
    Didnt have a life
    But surely saved one
See? I'm alright, now its time for us to let you go

    Johnny Cash (Kris Kristofferson)

    Sunday Mornin' comin' Down

Well, I woke up Sunday mornin'
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for desert

Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
And I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day

I'd smoke my brain the night before
On cigarettes and songs that I've been pickin'
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Cussin' at the can that he's kickin'

Then I crossed the empty street and caught
The Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken
And it took me back to somethin'
That I'd lost somehow somewhere along the way

On the Sunday mornin' sidewalk wishin', Lord, that I was stoned
'Cause there's somethin' in a Sunday makes a body feel alone
And there ain't nothin' sure to, dyin' half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleepin' city sidewalk, Sunday mornin' comin' down

In the park I saw a daddy
With the laughin' little girl, he was swingin'
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the song that they were singin'

Then I headed back for home
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringin'
And it echoed through the canyons
Like the disappearin' dreams of yesterday

On the Sunday mornin' sidewalk wishin', Lord, that I was stoned
'Cause there's somethin' in a Sunday makes a body feel alone
And there's nothin' sure to dyin', half as lonesome as the sound

    Dream Theater,A Change of Seasons:

    "I'll always remember
    The chill of November
    The news of the fall
    The sounds in the hall
    The clock on the wall
    Ticking away
    "Seize the Day"
    I heard him say
Life will not always be this way
    Look around
    Hear the sounds
    Cherish your life
    While you're still around"

    also from that song:

"Oh come let us adore him
    Abuse and then ignore him
    No matter what
    Don't let him be
    Let's feed upon his misery
Then string him up for all the world to see

    I'm sick of all
    Your hypocrites
    Holding me at bay
    And I don't need
    Your sympathy
To get me through the day

Seasons change and so can I
    Hold on Boy
    No time to cry
    Untie these strings
    I'm climbing down
I won't let them push me away"

Then, from Devin Townsend's song Seventh Wave:

"O earth, what changes hast thou seen!
There where the long street roars, hath been
The stillness of the central sea.
The hills are shadows, and they flow
    From form to form, and nothing stands;
Like clouds they shape themselves and go."
