Storn Dennis hits the UK

Asmy eardrums bend under the tumultuous cacophony of the wind, as the windowpanes sag against the relentless, machine gun rattle of the driven rain, as thenearby river roars ominously, pluming high against its piers, I lie, tossingand turning, tormented by the thought ...who called it Dennis? Before the 24hr news cycle demanded drama from the everyday,it would just have been the bad weather you can expect in winter.

But if youíre going to assign a name to the awesome power of nature, surely a Roman god, or some figure from Norse mythology. With apologies to anyDennisís out there, Dennis Ö really?

Itís like Sauron of Mordor being Dave of Essex

*laughing* it is a strange name for a storm. Maybe 'Dennis the Menace'? My husband and I were discussing this latest craze of naming storms and wondered at the inspiration behind it.

Yeah, it's a rough'un. And I'm in, arguably, the most sheltered part of the midlands.

I'm on holiday up North, but our neighbours have been in touch to tell us the grandkids trampoline is now in their garden!

Dennis turns out to be a bit of a menace after all.
