WORKING ON HURRICANE POEMS

Rate this Entry
So, I'm working on my hurricane poems. Yes, I know it doesn't look like I am, but I am. grrr Really hard to take the steps back (or should I say steps forward) and get INTO the scene, not be the observer. For me, it has always been easier that way. Perhaps I'm more a writer than I thought. So this is what came out of my frustration.

THE BUSINESS OF POETRY

Hands poised over the keyboard,
tapping letters, forming words,
frustration of inadequacy exposed,
as I hit the delete button again.

Capturing fragments of time,
sketching reflections, emotions,
snapshots from pencil and paper,
this business of targeted words.

Grrr

I like it, you definitely captured the frustration of editing and writing, it made me chuckle as I read each line. /i find that when I write poetry I must get it all done when I am writing that poem as if I leave it and try to come back to it at a later date I'm not in the same frame of mind I was in when I began writing it, makes me wonder how poets managed to write those epic poems, keeping the same mood flowing all the way through.
