Applying for job

I have been home for 2 years and want to go back to work. I can't keep sitting in the house stress free. I have skills- I can work with the special ed children. I sometimes want to slam the computer keys out of frustration when I think about the idea of many women still having to sacrifice time in your career to have babies. I understand why many women are opting out of not to have children. It takes away from their career. They tell you, "You can have it all!" But its a lie. You can't have everything, at least not all at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I have been working by running an in-home daycare and teaching a pre-k class once a week out of my home. But staying home has put a dent in my growth as a worker. I feel deprived of this time I could have been working and growing as a supervisor.

This is a rant, so the writing is somewhat incoherent.

My wife made more than me when we went. Two kids and many years later, I'm the primary "bread winner".
WE made that choice. It was hard on her, in many ways. But she made some close, life-long relationships with other stay-at-home moms. I'd play poker with the husbands, and we'd all have block parties and go camping. The primary beneficiary was all the neighborhood kids. They saw stable, healthy families that cared and took care of each other.
Would 20 to 30k more in my wife's 401k help right now? Sure. But you have to keep focus on what's important.
BTW: My wife works with "special needs" children. The skills she learned in the real world made her a more effective paraeducator than any academic training ever would.
No, we don't (and never will) "have it all". But we have what matters. Just my perspective.
    Good luck.
