BLUNT TALK

Lyrics 2.

Rate this Entry
So I was scouring my email looking for an old transcript for a song that I was going to post here, and instead found a song I wrote the lyrics for but never finished musically (because I couldn't find anyone willing to sing it).

Anyway, this song is called "Undying" and it's from 2007.

[Verse]

I'm broken down and crawling (crawling)
Your love has left me here this way
Left now to lie and wallow
In my heart
Afraid to face the day

But now I hear the calling (calling)
A sound that makes me stand and say
I will lay down no more
This life is mine
I won't throw it away

[Bridge]

I've wasted all these years
Trying to find your heart
Trying to earn your trust
You've left me opened up

But when I find my place
I'll never think of you
My heart will survive
I've finally seen the light

[Chorus]

Undying, Undying
No longer will I have to run and hide
Undying, Undying
My will is stronger than your pride
My spirit greater than your lies
You'll never know
I'll take the blow
I won't let go
Of what I hold inside

Oh-woah

[Verse]

I'm under so much pressure (pressure)
This pain is eating at my soul
But there's no turning back
I can't give in
Or let it take control

I won't give you the pleasure (pleasure)
Of seeing me bend, break or crawl
I'll make my own life now
I don't need you
I'm not yours anymore

[Bridge]

I have to let go
Of what I used to feel
And who I used to be
And all those memories

And when I find my place
I'll never think of you
My heart will survive
I've finally seen the light

[Chorus]

Undying, Undying
No longer will I have to run and hide
Undying, Undying
My will is stronger than your pride
My spirit greater than your lies
You'll never know
I'll take the blow
I won't let go
Of what I hold inside

[SOLO]

[Alt. Bridge]

The suffering will never end
'Till I forget your face
And though I thought I'd die without you
I stand here strong now
Freed from my disgrace

I have no love for you now
I have no heart for you
I'm moving on
I've left the maze
I'm done with crawling
I've found my place

I'm free

[Chorus]

Undying, Undying
No longer will I have to run and hide
Undying, Undying
My will is stronger than your pride
My spirit greater than your lies
You'll never know
I'll take the blow
I won't let go
Of what I hold inside

[End]

Reminded me of Sinatra's: I Did It My Way ("I took the blows and did it my way") I can even hear it sung to that melody.

Well I wrote the verse riff and the vocal track melody, just nothing else.

I started this song by writing lyrics first, as was one of many ways I approached my originals.

Yesterday I posted in Oblivious Plunge's Music thread. Being old, I complain. I said I'm convinced that lyrics are "smeared in air" now. No enunciation. I used to assume it was my hearing at fault. Then I listened to Seger, which I posted, and then the other two songs. No fucking way is it my hearing. Lyrics used to be what really sold the song. Knowing every damn word was vital to its success. So, keep that in mind...some drum will bang your words into nothing. Or, the vocalist won't care enough to open their mouth and really deliver.

I listen to singers who understand that powerful music requires conviction.

Assholes like Future and all of the Urban scene are the downfall of music.

That said, I still can't understand some of the shit that came out in the seventies. xD

    70s Disco? LOL.

The last decade that a man held a woman and she let him lead. Sorry if you missed it. Hot stuff. I was a great disco dancer.
