I'd Like to Apologize...

Rate this Entry
I'd like to apologize for my rant in the Official Mental Health thread. I'm aware of the purpose of such a thread (that's why I created it :
emmersed
but I wanted to say some things that I feel needs to be addressed.
--------------------------------------------------------
The result of that rant was due to a sequence of bad events.

Stress in the job lately
Almost got into a wreck twice in the span of seconds
The secretary yelled at me for something I didn't do
My boss picked on me for apparently 'showing my Liberal side' by siding with Kathy Griffith and not agreeing on Trump's pulling out of the Paris Accords.

It... I just blew up. Plain and simple. I blew right the fuck up. I lashed out against Trump supporters, lashed out against Catholics. During my rant I might have...well...lumped Trump supporters and Catholics as horrible, terrible, KKK-wannabes. I fantasize about all the horrible things I could do to them if I had the power to do so -- how I wouldn't feel any shred of compassion toward them.

I just wanted to let you all know that I would never, ever not feel compassionate. Even if I may disagree with someone on a political level, I will still feel terrible if I learned something bad happened to them. Hell, when Kathy did the controversial photo, I felt bad for Melania and Barron Trump!! Especially Barron because the kid's, like, eleven friggin' years old! Like Donald or hate him, did his wife and son really need to see that? I wouldn't want to see a photo of someone holding a prop of my dad's bloodied head.

And as far as me lumping Catholics? Yeah, that was a low one. I can't live by a double-standard of "don't lump Jews/Muslims together" and then go, "Lol, all Catholics hate gay people" There are always shitty people in every group. Pick an ethnicity, a race, a religion, a culture. You're going to find a selected few members within that are assholes. They don't make the entire lot.

We're all in this together. We don't have to agree on everything.

And on a personal note, it's just not worth it for me to spend my life angry and vindictive. What's the point? My grandfather spent his entire life to his dying day vindictive and hating everyone. I loved the old guy, but this was a vice I will never repeat for myself.

So yeah, just needed to get that off of my chest.

Sometimes it's just too much and sometimes you just gotta expel all that energy. Might not always come out right, but it happened and you expelled and now you reflect and move on. Trust me, I know what it's like to feel the lashing out and when it all builds up that you pretty much explode.

Reflect, breathe, and move forward. Easier said than done, I know, but I still gotta say it anyway. You got this.

It does make me laugh how democrats consider themselves to be the moral exception to politics. Not that take sides at all, it's just that I noticed democrats always wine about morality and such from that cross of theirs. The political democrats are just as crooked and conniving as the republicans.

To be honest, I consider myself a liberal, and I was very appalled by Kathy Griffin's stunt, not because she was attacking the great Donald, but I remember those lovely captions of beheaded kidnap victims by Al Queda wannabes in Iraq. Whatever your position might have been on the Iraq war, those 'warriors' were pretty sick. Griffin, frankly, seemed to stoop right at their level.

And yeah, there's a lot of hypocrisy to go around in both parties so I won't go there.

Yes, sometimes when you do lash out at the world, you do risk the danger of saying something that will offend one or more groups of people. As a christened Catholic (though an agnostic in reality), I know not all Catholics are gay haters so to speak. I mean look at the present Pope if you want proof of that. And if you're on a platform such as Kathy Griffin, a misstep can cause a great hit on your reputation, so you do have to think before you blurt out something you may regret.

But at the same time, you can't beat yourself up either. If you do screw up, you own up to it as you have and you move on. If people are unable to accept the apology, we'll that's on them.

I do know people who are essentially mad at the world and I can't think of one that is a happy person. So, no, you don't want to end up in that state of mind. If things aren't going your way, I guess you cope with it and move on. I said this somewhere else but it's meaningless to feel safe if you aren't free... or happy.

So I guess if you can't fire your very conservative boss, maybe try to ignore his ramblings and do the best you can with what you can control.
