Some Good News

Rate this Entry
As some may recall, I've had issues with people disrespecting my writing and writing time. Over time I've cut people from my life because of this. This good news is about the woman who would show up unannounced after I'd tweet "Am Writing". She would take that as a coded message meaning I was home and drop by- despite my counts attempts to remind her to call first- like everyone else does.

This woman has moved many times in the years that I've known her. This time, however, she's moved to CHICAGO!!

No more surprise visits!

I predict more and greater progress in my writing because of this.

I think I mentioned it last time. Remember the Misery, always. I am not good at telling people no. Like to not call so much and all that. I don't like making a coded sort of message. But I feel it is more hurtful in a way not to tell the person. But situations vary. Sometimes you have to tell straight out, sometimes you have to be discreet. I hate it all. Sounds like you do too. I am not sure if you meant she was stalking you or semi-stalking, but remember that movie!

I haven't seen Misery, but no I didn't think she was stalking me- she was just thoughtless and rude. I understand that she has her limitations because of Augsburg, however, I've seen her do many things that surpass the condition. For one, she's a brilliant writer. Yes, there's a juvenile mentality to it but still, brilliant. She is also very clever, some how she managed to steal 7 things from me before I realized it was her doing it. I don't understand why she didn't buy her own pizza slicer or wine bottle opener.

There is a line when behavior is genuine to this condition and when the condition becomes the excuse for the behavior.
I know I sound cruel but it is a reality, some people are allowed to get away with things because of their 'condition'. Like I said, this woman is clever, and while she doesn't whine about having it, she uses this condition to her advantage. I've seen far too many people let her get away with 'oh, it's her Augsburg'. And I think she expects this treatment from everyone.

Will you hate me if I said, I laughed while reading about this. It's a "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH HER" type of laugh.
I'm sorry that you have to go through all that. But I think if it gets way worse than that, you know, the stealing, maybe you can report it? ----> if she comes back.

I guess I've watched enough crime scene investigation to find it creepy somehow. Well, I don't know her so I can't really say.
Stay safe though even if she is now in Chicago.

    Have a nice day..,

Oh, I'm with you Reich, it's completely dumbfounded if not confusing. I won't press charges because I've replaced all of the items- each valued less than $20. Still, it's the principal of the matter. If she's willing to steal these things, what else will she take? I've often caught her trying to take a look at the printed copies of my manuscripts- even though they're kept in a box marked MANUSCRIPTS - PRIVATE.

It's like she thinks she's excluded.

The confounded part is that she desperately wants people to trust her. Yet she's proven, by her actions, that she can't be.

Sometimes, with some people, all you can do is shake your head and let it go. After barring them from ever being allowed in your home again.

Like I said, at least I was able to replace those 7 items, even the Stargate Command Patch. The replacement was the last one the company had. Whew!

At least this hasn't stopped me from inviting people to my home.

Oh dear Lord. Even your manuscripts? What if she publishes that and have it under her name.

But I commend you, that even if she's been like that for a long time, you "tried" to understand her many times.
I'm beginning to think that might have some psychological issues. A friend of mine knew someone who steals things too (she's caught in the act and all but would deny it.) and for some reason acts like a child. Brought her to the doctors and found some type of brain damage.

I wish you all the best with your writing!

As I'm protective of my manuscripts, I keep an eye on the box or hide it before visitors arrive (one reason I insist people call before visiting- aside from just being polite) . So, I'd catch her before she could invade the box. Like a kid in a candy store, she would plop down asking "What's Ms Snow written lately?"

    Me: "Get out of there!"

Seriously, that's how it would go- every time. I started to think that this was why she wouldn't call before visiting. Either that or she wanted to catch me in my PJs. LOL
