if I die...

I could quite possibly die from it.

Okay, "possibly", I said. I don't know what the probabilities are - certainly greater than developing 'special powers'. Yes, unlikely, but...

Spider bite- that's what I'm talking about. I believe I got bit -two bites- night before last.

Unlike a mosquito, there wasn't a defined bite hole - you know, like where they stick the, um- 'proboscis' , organic hypo - No, this was just two mosquito bite sized areas that were not raised lumps, but had a sort of itchiness to them. They're not mosquito bites. They don't itch now, but there's something going on. I'm 'aware' of them.

Now, a full 24hrs later twin heads have raised, just red points, and there is a strange achy-ness in the armpit joint above, the elbow joint below. Sort of feels like the ligaments; mild, but there when there shouldn't be anything 'there'.

Anyway, think I'm gonna go for a hike. I can feel the coffee coursing all through me, except for that area of my upper arm, and the two nearby joints ( partially).

Geesus, will I be accelerating the venom through me to some important part, paralylising it, and die?

So be it. I can't stand being cooped up right now. Sky is still reddish and smoke polluted from the fires, but I'm going.

Spiders... I like spiders, but I think one got me. I've probably killed a thousand. I suck them in the vacuum, mostly ( though I have stomped black widows).

The larger I do scoop with a glass and throw outside, but I know sometimes it's easier and/or just too late - *shhlooopt!* - there goes another one.

Holy cow, Kevin! That achy-ness isn't good and the joint/armpit area sounds like something spreading out. Go to the doc, man!

It's very mild.
I think it would be one of those "wait and see experiences" - My bro had a really nasty looking bite and the docs had no treatment for him. It really ached. He wrapped it ( his forearm) in a pressure bandage (?)sleeve at home with a cut-out at the bite zone so it could drain, which it did for days- kept it clean and that was it. Took about two weeks for it to begin to go away. They were impressed by his bandage idea which seemed to help. 'Brown Recluse' was suspected.

Mine is very mild. If it gets bad I'll go. I've had bee stings that swelled larger. This, the swelling is almost not there. Spider bites are strange/ different. That's why I thought I'd share. Sort of interesting in a (perhaps morbid) untrained medical way :).

P.s.- If if anything more exciting happens with it I'll update, unless I , uhm, kick the bucket (in which case, I don't think I'll be typing anything).

People make fun of my arachnophobia.

But when they realize that any moment in your sleep you could be bitten by a creature that is nothing more than a penny-sized assassin, possibly resulting in death or serious injury, they might reconsider.

Hope you get better.

I'm not sure if this is a real event or part of a story you are writing. I'm hoping it's the later because there was a line that kind of stuck out to me...

They don't itch now, but there's something going on. I'm 'aware' of them.

What did you mean by "them"? I thought you meant the spiders. If that's so that was a creepy-cool line. I thought that's where the story was going to descend to darkness with some sort of karmic revenge for your killing of spiders, but it didn't happen. Either way, liked the read.

If it's true, hope you are well.

The "them" I meant was the two bites. They look like two slightly red puncture marks- like if I was a vampire and I gave myself a hickey on the bicep. They're no open holes- just reddish points.

Karma and spiders- ick
The earwig god came to me once in a dream. Our house had issues with them. Anyway, in it, it, she, not really sure, was chasing ten-year-old me down the sidewalk. Finally, she ( ah,that's why the 'she'; her voice! Just remembered) spoke to me about how it was pointless to run away. "You can't get away".

Earwigs! Ick...
