African Dancing

After weeks of searching for a new Zumba class I settled for African dancing as a way to keep fit.

My kids will probably be horrified that I've turned into a New Age hippy as I connect with Mother Earth. They tend to forget; I was a child of the 60's and grew up with 'Flower Power'.

The girl in in this video is my teacher... she thinks I am game... that's game in trying new ideas... not 'On the Game'. tut... tut..

This is what I'm attempting to do.

I did say attempting!

This is a lovely group of people - so kind and receptive. It just goes to show we cannot, and should not judge people my appearance alone.

cool.....body and soul stuff can only be good for you on so many levels.....bravo..PiP

Pip,
i envy you your self-confidence.
If only i dared try learning to dance.
Not that of course, but i would like to have been able to dance.
Fun and fitness.

dither, it's more desperation than self-confidence on my part. Even though the other people in the group are almost half my age the encouragement I receive is amazing and I am humbled by their generosity and support. The class is not even conducted in my language but a smile and a hug needs no translation.

Watch it! You might really like it, and if you really like something... next thing you know you're doing it all the time while doing other things to be better at it. The side-effects can at times be dramatic...shocking even. Your friends and family may not be ready for it. Oh dear...

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being a flower child. I turned 16 in 1960, and although I was pretty much a square, I agreed with what they were about - piece and love, baby. Have fun and be fit!

Do you remember the flared trousers, Afro hair and funny John Lennon style glasses?

I don't think the world is quite ready for an African dancing Piglet the size of a grounded whale :) Yet alone my kids...

Lord, yes. My college was pretty straight-arrow, but we still had plenty of that in 1966. I got heavy into folk music then, still like it. A lot of the artists are still around - Bob Dylan, Joan Baez. The Rolling Stones (who says there are no such things as zombies?
:icon_cheesygrin:).
