  1. Pieces of the Past

Yesterday I was cleaning and I found this ancient writing device hidden away in one of my draws...

    Loose-leaf paper.

With a bit of sadness I kind of just looked and wondered on it for a bit. I felt the need to keep it...to use it just for the hell of it...but ultimately threw it away. As a kid, paper was a vital need. I constantly wrote as a kid and you couldn't catch me without some sort of pen and paper. But with the smart phone all that went away. No need to ...
  2. General life.

I'm waiting for the blasted pan to soak,
elbow deep in suds. I scrub at stubborn,
baked on rements of last nights meal.

Aromas rising out of my oven,
    they tantalize my stomach,
and cause my mouth to water.

I await the cooking of my potatoes,
to turn a golden, shade of brown,
and crisp up at the edges.

Then I toss the gammon in the pan,
red hot, that I listen to it sizzle,
my belly gurgles at aticipated meat. ...

  3. Wishful thinking of adventure

No Rhyme just an out pouring of pent up thoughts.

    Wishful thinking of Adventure.

Do you ever dream of being able to fly?
Of being caught up in a huge battle?
Have you ever wanted an adventure?

Here I sit at my window, looking out.
Wondering about where I would go
if I could, leave all of this behind.
Start a new life? Would I go someplace
warm or cold, sunny or snowy.
Would I make new friends or just
    morn ...
  4. How to Change the World

If we are all energy and energy flows
    and surrounds us
the Earth then is energy also as is
everything on her, in her and around
    her...every form, ever seen, everyday
    Earth now needs positive reinforcement
    more than ever
Love, to feed her amongst the greedy
    opportunists that exploit her
What can be done to heal her?
    The power of one
    The power of intent
    What kind of energy?
How much energy must be projected? ...
  5. The Problem With All Lives Matter vs X Lives Matter

Real quick...why does a group of people decide to walk down the street asking for rights? Because they feel they either have none, or that they are in some way adversely affected in a way that is beyond their direct control to remedy.

Recently there was a thing called Black Lives Matter. However, there have been many other types like this. Sometimes we don't like them. When the Klu Klux Klan have their rallies, or the Tea Party, or something of that sort, they all get maligned by the ...

  6. Illegal Immigration

Illegal immigration is not a new thing. It's been around forever, the idea of borders and the wrong sort crossing them, wars starting over them. It's not just a western property-obsessed thing either. Indians to the East and West both had their territories and defended them with force. Everyone has their sense of property. Remember when your little brother would take your toy and you'd take it back and club him over the head with it? The idea of property isn't something that was instilled on us ...
  7. Spilling coffee on my brown pants, anyway( they're brown)

"Belfast- master closet led at cabinets-
Drop ceiling lights reposition to align w/ halfway mark between HVAC chase and wall
How far off back wall tbd limited by structure"-
That was my day and now is my day as I read "belzebubs comics" inbetween yesterday's notes and drink coffee in the dark. I spilled some- heard the drops hit my pants ( which blocked it from the couch, t g) but it doesn't matter as my pants are faded brown with some washed-look/won't come

  8. three people

    by , February 15th, 2018 at 08:44 PM (Each n every day)
guy got on the train stop i use to stand at and i always wondered what he did with his large drawing pad tucked under his arm come clear or windy times. He sat on the window seat opposite me and i noticed a badge on his lapel which read 100% scouse.Next stop a man with that stale ale smell sat facing me and he looked up the train and asked a woman is that dog a learcher but i never heard a reply so he looked at me and said he could do with a dog to catch the rats that get into his place...we exchanged ...
  9. Meanwhile, in Nippon

So I'm an Otaku. I love Japanese culture until it's like, wtf. I'm fucking obsessed with Japanese singers/Japanese music in general, I've watched literally COUNTLESS anime (in equally countless genres), Japanese movies, and I can speak Japanese almost fluidly (although I don't understand more than 30% of the language).

Over the years, my love of Japanese pop music took over my love of metal. I found it incredibly ironic that Megadeth was my favorite metal band and Nanase Aikawa was ...
  10. Do Torturer's Feel The Pain?

When I watch someone get tortured on TV I cringe up. The more gruesome it is the more I can't stand it, and if the scene drags on for too long I even start to feel a little sick. I'm not sure if it's just me, but even though I'm not being tortured myself, it seems like some sort of empathetic link connects me to the pain- even when it's not real.

So I wondered...how can a person who tortures people in real life deal with this sort of thing. I mean...he probably does deal with it in ...
  11. Peaky Blinders (No Spoilers)

Great show. Pretty much all four seasons, though I thought at the fourth there were some stretch marks in terms of plot, but still pretty good.

It won't be a waste of time.

    There is no life
    as desolate as
    the powerless

    no sleep as barren
    as the dreamless

    in the vastness
    of infinite emptiness

    let the slow chariot
    roll on by

I know this isn't a place for revisions, but, as I was falling asleep last night, a few changes came to mind and I am posting that version here, too.

    There's no life
    as lifeless as
    the powerless

    no sleep ...

  13. Too Critical?

I know people get defensive, but on the other hand critics can be assholes, if not just flat-out wrong...and assholes.

I often feel guilty for hating popular things and it kinda makes me feel like the old guy yelling at kids from his porch. I step back and wonder...am I just being a crank and the movie was good, or was it really bad and everyone else is just crazy?

At this point I remembered "Knight Rider". It was an 80's show about a man and a futuristic car ...

  15. Trying to World-Build, But...

I used to think that I was the only person with "deep thoughts" until...you talk to people...and then you realize that, for some reason, everyone has these silent thoughts. Maybe not so deep, but intense and persistent questions or yearnings or...whatever.

I think one of the questions I pondered on the most was "what does it all mean". Mostly, the answer to this question tends to be "doesn't matter, you're alive so make the most of it". And people engaging ...
  16. Lyrics 3!

This is a song I've been trying to find the transcript for, but I can't find it, so I'm rewriting it real quick.

It's called "Say Hello To Fate" and I think it's the third song I ever finished lyrically? I really can't remember it verbatim so I'm going to try to revise it a bit.

Insinuating heresy in all we do and all we say
Corrupting minds with one shot lies
    It all ends here today
  17. The Disco time

While you were sheik'n ya booty away I was still into what came after the hippy-dippy. 14, and I was dating Cherrie Curry in Foxes. She was such a mess, and I tried to be there for her, and her sun-in damaged, feathered hair. She'd take anything- luudes, coke, black beauties; mixed with vodka, while I only smoked weed.

Shit, I didn't even do that at the time because I'd nearly blown out my eardrums trying to hold in a hit a hash-oil. My brother was pissed- had told me this was
  18. The Heart of the Matter

I've always admired those people who have the ability to cut right to the heart of the matter. I'm not sure if it's sight or instinct, but they seem to be able to slip right through the chaff and address or strike the underlying issue. I'm guessing this is what's meant by "emotional intelligence".

I wonder if this equates to those people who seem to be able to know what you are thinking- those who tell you about yourself in a way that's both abrupt and jarring- as if the ...

  19. Super Bowl 2018

Superdull Sunday. It just slipped out. I must be either a commie or a homo, right? Yeah, well, I didn't even know what two teams were playing. How's that grab ya? Like a lockeroom reach around, huh? I almost feel guilty, like not knowing the words to the pledge-a-legance or something.
Patriots versus Eagles. Two teams all the way back on the east coast. Might as well be a different country. They probably talk funny, like 'Ayep' and 'Caffy' (coffee), or '...down on toighty-toid and toid.' Okay,
  20. Lyrics 2.

So I was scouring my email looking for an old transcript for a song that I was going to post here, and instead found a song I wrote the lyrics for but never finished musically (because I couldn't find anyone willing to sing it).

Anyway, this song is called "Undying" and it's from 2007.

I'm broken down and crawling (crawling)
Your love has left me here this way
Left now to lie and wallow
    In my heart
    Afraid ...
  21. Powerful Poet : Kate Tempest

by , February 2nd, 2018 at 04:02 PM (Scraps of Who I am)
A friend in England sent me this video to wish me a happy birthday a couple days ago. I must have listened to it no less than 25 times since. Amazing poet and rapper and a powerful spoken word artist.

  22. Heroes Vs. Vapid Hedonists

God, I wish I had the time to read Neil Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death.. I will get to it soon, I hope.

I'm just so tired. But I feel moved to write finally. Perhaps not for the best of reasons. Regardless, my wife is going through Hell dealing with her estate executorship and the squabbling sisters. I have to support her. This weekend I'll be busy getting the in-laws' house ready to sell. No time for writing.

My first catalyst to write (eventually) was ...
  23. The End of the F**king World

All I'm going to say is that it's a pretty good...and pretty short (thank god) show.

And that I think the girl is the actual psychopath.
  24. Short Fantasy vs Epic Fantasy

I used to love epic fantasy and still do...sorta...but they're becoming too epic.

By that I mean when you have to wait over 20 years to find out the conclusion of a story...isn't that a bit ridiculous. More so, you're kinda stuck in that one story. There's stories within the stories of course, and it covers multiple plots, but it's still sorta the same thing and spending so much time on one story seems a bit exhausting after a while.

I think the first truly long epic ...
  25. Content Creation on Trigger Warnings

I am writing this article because I am honestly looking for feedback. I realize that in my day to day life I write a variety of topics but the one essential theme I always find myself writing is horror. However in this day and age it is considered appropriate to preface such content with a warning label of things that might upset viewers whose life circumstances have often left them struggling with these issues.

For example, one might be triggered by guns or the mention of guns. But ...
