  1. Daddy Great Relief in Draft 1

Distilled, my character blended, and churned, addition, the dash [tabasco, bucket splash @ 50%] of the English aristocracy crazy horse, so-called. And the result was a boy child raised properly at the turn of this century.
‘Hooray,’ I cried for those first eighteen years, and I cried for the next eight.
    I am crying today.
For several months now the telephone calls:
‘I have no shoes, it is snowing. What are you going to do about this, you old bastard. I am sleeping in dustbins ...

  2. Natural Born Killer (final demo w/ bass)

I guess this is the last blog post I'm making because this forum has completely lost all of its personable qualities.

I respect the decision to make the forum completely oriented towards writing, but for y'all to take personal journals away is just really fucking irking.

Unless I start writing again, I probably won't be coming back here after next year.

    Bleh.

  3. Eye Opening Find

Most of my blogs have been about works in progress, and while on vacation last week, I did a little writing on my current. Then I stopped, because I found I had not managed to copy my latest spreadsheet of characters to my notebook, didn't want to recreated it, and needed it for my next scene. So I had to simply enjoy my vacation.

But that isn't what this blog is about. I recently joined the Operations Committee of an organization devoted to carrying out the good works of my favorite ...

  4. What's in a dream?

It amazes me when people say that they remember dreams so vividly when I, well, obviously I dream just like anyone else but I wake with absolutely no recollection of any dream I may or may not have had. That was until last night and I am finding it all a bit disconcerting. I shall attempt to recount the details of a dream that I had with a view as to why I dreamed what I did.

Okay, so there I was, in my dream-state, totally awake, seemingly, in a world of grey. No worldly features, ...

  6. UPDATES

I've gained a new appreciation for my avatar.

This is like, the best "ROTFL" I have ever seen in my entire life.

I just got a new phone and the bitch has THREE MICROPHONES AND THREE CAMERAS.

It records 1080p video with 3D sound.

I'm going to spend the next three days with the bass player and knock out a final demo of KILL IT ...

  7. Nowhere to Run

This was written back around 2013/2014 when I was homeless, much of it written acoustically without an amplifier.

It was, and remains a masterpiece, but I haven't sat down and practiced it more that a few times in the past year because I've been so preoccupied with writing new material.

I want to sit down and re-record this without the mistake that I have perpetuated in EVERY RECORDING ATTEMPT in the past 6 years.

  8. The Hero's Journey

I'm writing a tale of mystery and intrigue ... and quite a bit of murder.

Here's how things happen when I write. My hero's side is trying to make progress on who's murdering his associates. The associates are beings who used to be Greek gods, so they have some advantages.

The nominal leader of his cause wants to send him on a mission, and he doesn't know the technique to get where he wants to go. (He needs to get to the Underworld). No problem. By surprise, she stabs him ...

  9. Flight Of The Reaper

This is the best shit I ever wrote.

It took years to find the time to finish it, about 4 months to ACTUALLY finish it, like 2 days to practice, and it was recorded on the first take without a warm-up the following day.

This is my magnum opus, and I believe it will always be my most cherished composition because it proved to me that there is literally NOTHING I am incapable of with a guitar in my hands.

    I've ...

  10. Back to writing

My intended next project (which I've discussed previously) is one between two factions at odds, lots of characters, hopefully lots of intrigue, and a mystery.

My idea for the book got more ambitious after I'd already written almost three chapters in first person. So I decided to read (for the fourth time or so) Roger Zelazny's Amber series, which has mystery and intrigue involving many characters, and is written in first person.

It took a while, but I finished that, then ...

  11. Are Debut Authors Getting Publishing Deals?

I found this question in a thread in one of my writing groups. (I love this group--they really hit on the pertinent subjects). There were a lot of answers, but I noticed that the majority of them answered by saying that there were big six and seven-figure deals that had currently been made, and they cited the names of the authors. I think I saw a total of three. Obviously, these posters and the OP were thinking about the Big-5 houses since you rarely see any advances in the small and independent ...

  15. “Remember Me” Star Trek TNG Season 4

I don’t know why the episode always stuck with me, but it has.

The idea of the entire universe, shrinking around you? Every moment there are less things, less people. Until, the point where existence simply collapses upon you. There is nothing, and soon you are nothing.

I’ll admit, I’ve always had a soft-spot for strong female characters (part of the reason I was such a Voyager fan). In this episode, Dr. Bev Crusher freaks-out a little, but does not panic. Instead, ...

This is the last thing we recorded 3 weeks ago. Due to a bunch of retarded bullshit, I haven't been able to play my guitar for 3 weeks, but saturday and sunday we worked on a new song and we're about 1:35 seconds in.

It's whatever; progress has been made, albeit very slowly.

I haven't posted this because I've been depressed.

  19. Year of Hell

This rant refers to a spectacular Star Trek Voyager episode (1997), and an exploration of that episode. For current events, see “2020 Year of Hell”

I am a social pariah. I am a “Trekkie” (someone who likes Star Trek lore). Also, I am a fan of the Star Trek series “Voyager”, which is maligned by most Trekkies. This makes me an outcast amongst outcasts.

That said, I will not back down from my praise of the Voyager episode “Year of Hell” (even most Voyager haters admit ...

  20. witching hour thoughts

by , August 17th, 2020 at 08:26 AM (Stillborn Thoughts)
This weekend has been a respite of the mind and soul. While much of it was spent simply doing adult work – laundry, cleaning the house, taking my cat outside and playing with her – they were all generously slow and simple. There was nothing particularly complex about anything I did, and that’s what was spectacular.
This is something I’m sure the older among you will recognize. The joy of a simple day seems an understated one, but something I can’t imagine living long without.

  21. Blind Positivity

The weight of the world can be oppressive and dark, particularly when we're buried under a sea of existential angst to begin with. It can be useful to 'flip the script' as they say, and try on a shifted perspective. What has been working for me lately is to pay more attention to the good things happening in each moment. For instance, I am breathing, and nothing really hurts. The air is clean enough and I have a glass of water right here to drink. Today, while not guaranteed, is unfolding nicely. ...

by , August 15th, 2020 at 02:32 AM (Stillborn Thoughts)
it feels, lately, as if the worries of the world are too real to bear. not to say I’m incapable. I’m anything but that, and honestly that fact makes it worse. knowing I can fix my problems but haven’t only shines the spotlight internally.
that’s why I’m writing another of these after so long – they’re a good receptacle to leave yesterday’s remains in. perhaps not the prettiest of send off’s, but it’s what works.

Lately, work has become a greater and greater focus for me. First ...
