  2. Perfect timing

    by , November 28th, 2019 at 08:17 PM (Each n every day)
Had one of those special moments today while walking alone on the wind swept rainy afternoon and the line from a song came through my earphones and it choked me up in a good way an bad way...ii was so upset I cried all the way to the chipshop.....
  3. Two rejections

I received two form rejections this week. These were the first stories I've submitted in five-years. I feel like a writer again.
  4. Having an Opinion

That's become somewhat of a thinly veiled insult, calling someone "opinionated". It seems to set down the marker that the person with the opinion has closed their mind to new ideas, and is hostile to criticism.

    Here's my take:

Having an opinion means that you have the acumen to reason, and the maturity to stand by your reasoned thoughts. It doesn't mean that you want to argue, and are spoiling for a fight all the time. It simply means that you believe ...
  5. When I was a kid...

When I was a kid, sure we had differences of opinion about politics and other things, but we shared a common reality. These days, there seems to be two realities: one based on objective facts and the other based on how those who believe it want the world to be. Their leaders actually call it, on national TV, "alternative facts."

When we can't even agree on facts, there's no way in hell that we're going to have civil dialog. Everything just devolves into yelling and screaming ...
  6. Merry Chainsaw Massacre

    Kill another tree this Christmas
Drag it home to watch it drop
Presided over by a tatty fairy
Bound loosely to its droopy top

She’s lost her charm and sparkle
Dreads the ghost of Christmas past
    Trailing chains of tarnished tinsel
Foretelling ‘this year will be your last’

Taking pity on the tatty fairy
We got a fake complete with star
    Which flashed in rainbow colours
    Displaying ...

  9. Irwin's Top Albums of All Time (cont...)

There doesn't appear to be a way to edit posted blog entries, so this is a new one that continues from the old one which was about my pics for the top albums of all time! Whoo-hooo!

The list is getting a little unwieldy, and it probably should be broken up--either according to decade, or maybe genre. Something. I'll look at it after the list is complete.

    So, here's some more...

Marshall Tucker Band - Self-titled album, Searching for a Rainbow, or Carolina ...

  10. Dialogue

"I've never seen that man before," the woman said. "I have no idea who he is."
The lawyer squinted his eyes and drew his head back. He looked to the side at her. "He's your father," he said, exasperated.
  11. New Blog

I haven't done much work on my novel. It's only about 25k words at this point, although fully outlined. I'm not sure what the problem is, but maybe if I write in a blog, I'll be more motivated to work on my novel.

So... what to blog about... Music? I don't like any contemporary music. It's all crap... uncreative crap. And a lot of it is just ripped off from classic rock.

Hell, I don't even listen to music any more, other than watching concert videos of classic rock bands. ...
  12. Cooking in The Apocalypse! With Winston (gross stuff Trigger Warnin')

If you’re reading this, congrats! Either you survived a major SHTF (Stuff Hits The Fan) event, or you’re preparing ahead. In either case, good on you!
Today’s dish I’ll be preparing is Rice with Spam. This is a very basic meal, but versatile and adaptable. The staple ingredients provide essential survival nutrients that are easy to prepare and eat. Especially for those on-the-go times when you’re chasing down looters, or running from biker gangs.

    First, everyone should ...
  13. A year already?

Has it been a year already? Boy time sure flies sometimes when you're busy. I need to get back into the swing of things and start contributing to the community again!

  14. Life, MY life, and giggles in the darkness.

People... Life... MY life...and giggles in the darkness:

As with most working people who are in regular employment, my daily routine is pretty much set in stone, from when I wake up in the afternoon to when I get home and go to bed in the morning. There is a bus journey to and from work and there is a fair amount of walking involved. There are, of course, many others, living out their own little, ritualistic almost, regular day to day existences, and life goes on. There are people that ...

  15. Fun Fact:

There is only one gun shop in all of Mexico.

No matter what you do to limit supply, demand wins.

However, they do have a lot of vaqueros down there. You know about those darn cowboys, always causing trouble.
