1. HURRICANES, UNEXPECTED TWISTS AND AFTERMATHS

I keep watching updated news reporters with their interviews of what is going on in the Bahamas and Abacus. I have been torn up over the whole thing. Living in Florida I have been in many storms, nothing like this, but hurricanes, tropical storms and such so I know what it is like to see and hear the roaring fury of the wind and rain.

I was in South Florida when Hurricane Andrew went through Miami, and the devastation was shocking there, similar to what happened in the Bahamas but ...
2. ICYMI: WE 12/29/18

(I'm thinking a semi-focused weekly wrap-up of all things great and small is in order. Or most things. Or, whatever...
Tune back regularly for insight, enlightenment and intellectual vomit.)

So it was Christmas. Hanukkah. Kwanza. Festivus. For everyone in the Northern Hemisphere, it's dark and cold, and we need a reason not to be pissed-off and depressed. Hope you found your reason.

What if we shut-down a government, and no one cared? That happened. Donald ...
3. adventures in the small press

As some of you may know, I am the editor-in-chief of a small press, seen to be
"upcoming" in some circles and probably "uppity" in others. It's a full-time job, and a constant learning experience.
The primadonna factor is less than I thought it would be...which is a good thing. I've never had a nasty letter from a prospective writer, and only a few have groused publicly. One of the most enjoyable things is making connections. As editor, I'm the guy that makes first ...
4. No Surrender

To surrender is to guarantee the death of your dreams.
Fight!
It's the only option that makes sense.

No Excuses. Just Write.

Across my gas tank are the words “No Fear.” Below is the cross of Christ. The rain beads up on the tank and water runs off it.

It is raining and I am afraid.

Motorcycles and rain don’t go together. Motorcycles, race tracks, and rain equal insanity. Or so goes the little voice ...
6. Self-Promotion in the Social Media World... a few thoughts...

by , September 25th, 2016 at 01:51 AM (Professional Writing)
I am all about free. I even like the sound of it... "free".

This short piece is just me putting down my advice for people looking to peddle their wares (in this example a book/eBook) to the millions of potential buyers out there. The take away is that people hate to be sold to.

Q: "But... how do I advertise? I am a well kept secret right now!"
A: You advertise by NOT advertising.
Q: "OK, now I know you're nuts..."

An ...

8. Things my father should have taught me Business 101

Customers and competitors

I am surprised at how many people start a business without a lot of thought given to both customers and their potential competitors.

Sure we all plan and dream about how our product or service is going to corner the market and make us rich.

I am often surprised at how few new people to the business world, understand the dynamics involved in the market place. Most-- from my experience have given little thought as to why a customer ...

10. music of the blogospheres

Been busy blogwise this week...having moved a number of MP3s into a folder on my website, I updated the jukebox sidebar there and embarked on a project to explain how each of those songs came to be. Also took on the copy/pasting of a number of old blogposts to the new blogsite, and worked some on my soon-to-be-re-unveiled blognovel.
The reason why I tell you this, dear reader, is because I've recently been plucked from the great lemminglike herd of wf members (well okay, we only smell like ...

Bella's Lullaby (Bella Luna)

The birds flying across the sky
No tears, Red sun
Floating somewhere in the air
In water, in fire
Our love
No Way to stop, in the minds of others' diguise
Of our love, in the lair of our hearts and our souls,
to take us above the moonlit sky
The breeze going through your hair
Our gaze meets at the other ends of the world
to create of our hearts' desires
The birds flying across the sky
