1. Random Thoughts of Ol' Fartsy

As I ponder what is coming up, I am thankful for being alive and well. I am grateful that I am walking straighter than I was in years. I will be, hopefully going to 2 class reunions next year. I will eat too much come Thursday. For it is Turkey Day for us Americans. And I don't do Black Friday!
2. a setting

Condensation formed winding rivers and streams across the inside of the cheap single Payne windows. The Marvell of their existance being the expense of glass had been afforded. Accompaning the economy of the windows rose the bare blocks of the walls, brutal in their funstionality. Damp clothes stood impartialitaly in the corner whilst the bed and the desk faced off against each other across the breif stretch of empty no-mans’ land. The room was hostile territory, designed to be engaged by a personality, ...

3. Prisoner of the modern day

by , November 16th, 2011 at 02:59 PM (Inside the mind of modern day crazy person)
I find myself longing for the days of old. Even though I was a child of the 90's I find everything these days to be to technological. Yes I understand the irony that I am going to be complaining about technology whilst using a computer to post on the internet. But what was wrong with human interaction? What was wrong with playing outside? I even remember the days when you could apply for a job just by walking in and picking up an application form, these days practically everything is done online. ...

4. A Descent

you eat her and me.
you all ate her, made me.
you all ate her, even though you knew her.
we killed her, you ate her, made me. We knew her.
we killed her. you had to, then you ate her, made me, I knew her.
you all knew what you were eating, you all knew you'd killled her, you carried on.
We’re safer without her, we were weak with her. She made us weak. She made me vunerable.

you had to eat her, we all knew that.
you cannot have her back. ...

5. Not a usual follow up blog

by , November 8th, 2011 at 04:30 PM (Inside the mind of modern day crazy person)
Yes my 1st blog wasn't that great however I feel that this blog area will be my voice for things that either confuse me, irritate me or just simply things that are on my mind.

Today for example, I've been staring blankly at the script I'm trying to write, trying to think of how to continue it and make it gripping and instead I find myself thinking about things from my childhood I miss. Things like colouring book, playing with toy cars and eating certain food.

When is ...

6. Random acts of how an ipod can determine a day!

by , November 6th, 2011 at 10:00 PM (Inside the mind of modern day crazy person)
I, and I asume most people, have a varied music taste and my ipod reflects this, as it varies from KISS to Phantom of the Opera soundtrack (both original stage cast and movie, thank you) but it was only the other day that I discovered that I was becoming a slave to the rythems of the songs that were being fed into my ears. I noticed that when a very hard and fast paced song comes on, I walk in a fast aggressive manner and totally the opposite when a slow sober song comes on.

My ipod ...

7. IMAGINATION, CREATION & PSYCHIC INTEGRATION

“Man may be, in a figurative sense, in prison but he has also been given a large bunch of keys and several files. The fundamental and undeniable fact about the imagination is that its purpose is to intensify the life in man.” So wrote the prolific English writer Colin Wilson (1931-).(1)

His book is, he says, “a study of the inaccuracies of the imagination, because the inaccuracies of different imaginations tend to cancel one another out, and what is left is a perception ...

8. Write what you know

It's advice I've been given over and over again. I desperately want to write what I know creatively. I want to share my life in fiction or even memoir form, but I'm always afraid that the reality of things will come out in my words - that people will recognize the parallels between my reality and my writing.

I'm embarrassed by it, I'm plagued by it. When I write about the mean things "that man" said to "that girl," will my father recognize his own words to my mother? ...
9. Starting Again, but with a Better Foundation

Up until a few months ago, everything I've written was simply written from the beginning of the story until I couldn't write any more. I didn't have any notes on the book, any character sheets, place descriptions, who is who, what is what. I just wrote.

For the past couple months I've been compiling information into a file on my computer. It contains cities and their respective culture, wandering tribes and their gods, people, politics, different gods and religions across the land, ...

10. Opening Chapter Revamp

The opening chapter is the most important chapter in any book. It's like the first bite into a brand of frozen pizza you've never dared try before. Within seconds you know if you're going to venture into the rest of the thing or avoid it altogether and never recommend it to anyone else. And usually, there is no middle ground between those two outcomes. Love or hate. Your opening chapter determines it all.

The article "4 Goals for a Novel's Opening Chapter" by Darcy Pattison ...

11. I'm a Well-Trained Dog

I let my writing be compromised.

I always let my writing be compromised by editors and the like, I'm always revising and editing.

But this time, it's different.

I've never let anyone change the fundamental message, change the underlying thought behind the piece.

Especially a personal piece not meant for work-related publication.

But it was about offending someone who has control of my financial situation (no, not my husband, ...
12. Plots that make no sense, asking questions, and why writing is a like a puzzle.

Seems like I wrote something about vampires last night. I hope it was coherent. Man, I was wiped out. You don't even know.

Anyway, I'd like to share a little revalation I had a few years back that I still try to keep in mind while writing. Some of you who have been writing for a while may already have discovered this on your own, but whatever. It was an important step on my journey to writinghood and it deserves to be commemorated.

I was writing on a fantasy story simply ...

13. What Is A Vampire?

Irregardless of what my previous blog entry may have implied, I am not in fact a preteen girl. Thus it should come as no surprise that I'm not a big fan of the Twilight Saga. I tried reading the first book, found it amazingly poorly written and lost interest halfway through.

Don't get me wrong, though: I don't hate Twilight, I just think it is underserving of all the attention it gets. That includes the people who actually hate the franchise, mind. I've seen entire essays written on ...

My name is Skrillex
My name is Skrillex

My name is Skrillex

(buzz and beep and random whatever)

What am I listening to? I kinda like it, but it's not great. >_> I like Marilyn Manson better, but I've listened to all his music enough that it's old. I don't understand how people, so many people, can listen to the same songs over and over and over and over and over, over many generations even. Like Hotel California. I've heard it ...

15. Putting my manhood on the line, I'm going to talk about My Little Pony now.

Depending on what parts of the internet you frequent and how frequently you do so, you might have noticed a certain obsession among large number of adult people, most of them male, towards a cartoon primarily marketed towards little girls. I am, of course, talking about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Curious about the show's inexplicably massive cult status I decided to try it out to see what all the hubbub was about. What can I say? I'm a bit conformist like that.

16. Home Invaders: Section One of... ?

You just need something fixed, right?

Say a quick prayer. If you call for some home service "professional' (i.e. plumber, painter, cable guy, etc.) you're rolling the dice. And you know it. Maybe you'll get the clean, articulate professional that you'd gladly recommend. Or, maybe, you get the guy that looks like he just crawled off the barroom floor, smells like an ashtray and speaks in monosyllabic grunts.
Don't think that because you called a large, reputable firm that ...

17. London Churches, Part 5

"A tall thin old man comes backwards slowly and carefully through the glass door, carrying a metal stepladder in one hand, and in the other a small pot of paint and a small brush. With an air of methodical tidiness, he leans the stepladder against the front of a left-hand stall, stands the pot of paint next to it, places the small brush sideways across the exact centre of the top of the pot."

The fifth part of a hyperfiction based ...

18. The Dark InSpectre, Episode 40

Episode 40 of The Dark InSpectre is online, in which our hero finds out how to keep a crime scene under wraps, Thought Police-style.

Here’s an excerpt:
I crossed my arms, grimacing. “Whaddaya think the game is?”

He gave me a calculating look, started ticking off points. “Harcher hates tels, spooks most of all. Especially you. He wants you and your unit gone. Gina and Jimmy aren’t around to protect you anymore. It makes sense to discredit you leading up to the investigation ...

19. What Happened to Manners?

I admit with pride that I am a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl Raised in the South). Of course being raised in the South used to have meaning - people assumed (and some still do) - that Southerners will act a certain way and do things in a certain way. One thing that I had drilled into me when I was a child was manners. Please and thank you. Yes ma'am, no ma'am. Yes sir, no sir. And if you need to move passed someone who is in your way, "Excuse me," usually does the trick. Or at least it used to. ...

20. Mark in eternity

“Writing”; I have heard many explanations as to why we right. “I have to write because I can't help, but do so”. “I feel that I am going to burst if I don’t write”.

In my opinion I think they are the right statements to a bigger answer.

Our writing is just as important as our children being the legacy that carries forward our name; “Smith”, “Jones”, and “Grovhoug”.

But, I would go one step further to say the overwhelming urge to write is to say “I was here”. ...
21. Of Shifting Exams, Storms and Shticks: The Gob-smacking Turns These Past Days

Saturdays for a student usually meant his rest day. After all, its a Saturday and its a day to rest and, in some cases, heal the wounds inflicted the week before, or even just the night before. With all the booze? Come on, You need a whole day to rest for that.

But that's not in the vocabulary of a medical student. Not by a long shot, not when you have the major exams looming the week ahead.

I had it figured out. I scheduled my subjects accordingly and created a sort of ...

Episode 39 of The Dark InSpectre is online, in which our hero has to ask his boss for help at the murder scene if he has any hope of keeping his investigation quiet.

Here’s an excerpt:
Walter shook his head then got up and walked over to the wall of blood, directly across from the smiley face, and stood staring at it. His voice sounded almost haunted. “He’s like a… psychic vampire?”

“Not quite. He feeds on leftover psychic energy, and from what I understand, there ...

23. Financial Responsibility

I'll admit that I am frustrated. I'm not surprised, though. I just wish I can go back and pinpoint when this all started. I think when VCRs first came out, and people were intimidated by the instructions on how to set the clock. It became socially acceptable to just leave it flashing "12:00". Or put a piece of black tape over the clock, if you were really crafty.
Now, it seems that every problem has the same solutions for modern "man": Ignore the problem, or ...

Episode 38 of The Dark InSpectre is now online, in which our hero watches a ghost turned into a snack, and has to decide who he can trust.

Here’s an excerpt:
This couldn’t get out, not even a whisper of a rumor. Still-raw memories of my investigation into Dee’s murder and the Quads pulsed like open wounds in my brain. I’d seen firsthand the dangers of poking my nose into things people would rather I left alone, especially when it came to Department conspiracies. This had to be ...

25. Time & Patience...

Time i have a lot of, patience however i do not, never have.. But since doing graphic design, i have become a lot more patient, patient enough to sit for 6 hours and work in Photoshop without a break, or spend days on a project. I didn't know how design would impact my real life on a daily basis, other than keeping me busy but now i see it has actually changed me in certain ways. I am more patient and have more tolerance for other people. Not bad!.

I am currently working on many projects,
