I've been trying to do marketing for books, but I have an art problem.
Traditionally, romance covers are dominated by cute couples and shirtless men.
My men tend to have double mastectomy scars, and my women tend to be tall.
I'm looking for examples of covers that communicate "romance" that I can model my designs after that I can actually locate or create the elements for. Does anyone know of any good ones?

Bazz cargo profile pic would be perfect...has that Butch but feminine look that screams out demanding and sensual lover...

I buy most of my artwork here:
https://www.canstockphoto.com/images-photos/couple.html

There's another site that sells artwork too, fergit the name tho.
It just takes some patience to search for the right artwork.
Sometimes it needs to be heavily photoshopped.

Well, like, I have looked for the art, I have no problem sourcing lots of things, but any PEOPLE in the picture that I use pictures of can become a very difficult niche, and a lot of the people the pictures are of are recognizable by name on sight. I'm not sure how to make romance covers without needing prohibitively difficult art resources.

have you considered running a digital image
(photographic)
thru an effects package?
:)
catch an image in your local environment,
apply effect(s),
layer with other (context) elements,
get beverage and assess awesomeness.
maybe?
:)

Why would the mastecomy scar be on the cover?

Why would the mastecomy scar be on the cover?

It was a ref' to the shirtless men on the standard romance covers.

That would make a very eye-catching cover though, Dluuni!

I don't know of any actual examples but I guess you could use something generic, like petals, on a bed in the shape of a heart. Or maybe male and female symbols? I might have seen two wedding bands somewhere. Similarly, a veil and bow-tie, or confetti, could work if they're going to get married.

Do you have an idea what you are looking for?

Mostly, I am trying to find what the looks of covers I should be aiming at that I can access the art for are. For some reason, blue is common. Beyond that?
