Here are a few shots I took on Sunday during a drive along the Mississippi River. Most were taken from the Illinois side near Nauvoo, IL. The town seen in a couple of the shots is Ft. Madison, IA (the setting for much of my book Chase) as seen from Illinois. Enjoy!

Stunning pictures as always, Terry!

While I am drawn to the vibrant colours of the autumn leaves my favourite has to be the view of the old bridge taken through the branches of the trees.

That's one of my favorites too, Pip. That bridge is at the edge of Nauvoo, IL. Nauvoo, a very small town, has significant history as one of the birthplaces of the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). In its hey-day as a Mormon settlement, Nauvoo rivaled Chicago in population and held a large temple. The temple was destroyed after John Smith was killed and the Mormons forced to evacuate Nauvoo and begin their trek to Utah along the Mormon Trail. The temple was rebuilt in 2000 to 2002 and stands on a hill overlooking the river. I didn't stop to get any shots of the temple, but here's one I pulled off the web:

Thank you for sharing your gorgeous photos.... You have a flair for the dramatic... love the close up shot of the tunnel and the play of light over the stones... fabulous ;)
