All the cycling road races scheduled for the Olympics have been cancelled as the British Olympic Association performance enhancing drug control panel have finally admitted that they are no longer able to detect and control blood doping - They are also looking at some of the long distance events in the velodrome.

I think this is an issue that just about every sport is facing at the moment, because the money is in creating synthetic forms of performance enhancers, not in detecting them. As a result, many of the regulative bodies are almost always behind the perpetrators in scientific advancements in that area. That's why I almost think there's an argument for deregulation of all types of performance enhancement, simply because the current systems in place are essentially a joke and in reality all it does is create an unfair advantage for those athletes who have access to better chemicals and know how to beat the system.
