Thread: Is it worth it?

I write articles for a small humour project and publish them online but I often find myself wondering if it's at all worth the time and effort I put into my work. Your never sure whether anyone is actually reading your articles (well I know people read them but I have little idea if people like them or find them funny).

You see I do enjoy writing articles and reading through the finished piece thinking, yes I did a good job but most of the time I find myself wondering if I'm putting all my energy into a lost cause, for example renovating a ghost town but finding nobody ever visits again, all your hard work was for nothing.

I was just interested if anybody had similar thoughts whilst writing?

While it's good to have people notice, sometimes, it's better to just have an outlet. Some stories and ideas scream for expression and if they don't get it, you're left wondering what might have been which can be a far worse than feeling neglected.

If you feel a need to know what is happening to your outlet, try a visitor counter or set up a comment section on your page.

I don't think about "is it worth" in terms of my time and effort spent. However, I write because I want to give something back to the world by making people laugh. If no one but me is reading my stories, then I'm not fulfilling my goal, and that's disappointing.
