    The encouragement thread

I figure that just like working out, writing is easier if you have a buddy. Someone who wants you to succeed and encourages you. I am bouncing between two different novels right now, one in the 1600's and one in the present day. I am really inspired now and am writing several thousand words a day. My ideas come to me while drinking rum on the porch, then I transcribe them onto the computer and edit it the next morning. One novel has 55,765 words and is just getting into the meat of the matter. The other has 23,680 words. Just when I think I'm running out of gas inspiration hits and this evening I sent the characters off in many different directions on separate missions of great danger and importance.

Perhaps we can be a work out buddy and check in, encouraging each other. This one chapter, "Octopus" will sprout off many other chapters that hopefully will be full of action and adventure. We can learn from each other. My books are now available in paperback on Amazon as well as in bookstores and libraries. Here's to lifting each other up.

I love you, Ditch! Does that count as encouragement?

Congratulations on your moment of clarity and on your publication. I hope that everyone on this thread continues to be as encouraging as you are.

Thank you Powerskris, I have been at it a lot this morning, the latest word count now is 58,229 words but my ass is getting sore. I think I'm going to take a cooler with some rum and coke and go to the river across the street and get neck deep in some cool water.

Well it's up to 69,758 words now and is coming to the end. This, being the fourth book in the series people know there will be a sequel. In "Goldfish" I jumped forward 400 years to the present day. The relatives of the original pirate family all still live in the area. In that book they found and then salvaged three of the original ships. I'm thinking about a pretty dramatic ending to this current book. I'm thinking about the hurricane that sank them being the final chapter. Something along the lines of...

"The Vengeance rode up the massive wave, cresting the top then plunging at a sickening speed down into the trough. Felipe hung onto the wheel wind as the wind shrieked and howled. Batu struggled to hold on to the rail next to him. The ship buried its nose beneath the waves and was driven completely under. fighting his way to the surface, Felipe found himself riding another wave up to its towering crest. A brilliant bolt of lightning flashed and he saw Batu down in the valley of the wave, "Batu!" he shouted as the wave threw him end over end like a rag doll."

Is that a bit much? Too bad a place to leave people hanging? They know a sequel is coming.

The beatings will continue until motivation improves.

    Does that help?
