Thread: Is it difficult to find an illustrator?

Are illustrators thin on the ground or are there plenty out there looking for work?

I have a wonderfully talented young lady who offered to work on a short children's story for me, however, it has taken her over 18 months to come up with a story book and thats not finished. The stuff I have seen is excellent and makes me very excited and thats my dilemma. Am I being fair and patient by waiting?

Depending on how many drawings/paintings/pages are in the book, it might take a while. If she has shown you a handful of pictures/pages she's already done, it might just be that she has a life can only get so much done in her spare time?
If she continues to show you progress, I'd probably be patient, especially if you are not paying her yet. If you are, I might ask a few questions as to when she thinks she might have the artwork completed.

Yeah, can only second what Eluixa said. And, if you're having problems within a writer/artist collaboration, you really need to voice your doubts to the artist and not on a public internet forum. However nice you are about her and her work, it's just not very professional. Sorry if that sounds harsh but it's how I see it. I never discuss ongoing projects or clients with anyone other than the client. Ever.
