    Article for dreaming!

Ok, guys I have to write an article for a local magizine. Its supposed to be about something that plauges our community. What I have chosen is what people dream about being. Over here people dream about being a great doctor or an engineer for a multi national company. That is it. They don't dream about being a panist, an author, an artist NOTHING ELSE ( I am an exception as are some people that I know ). Now I want to bring this to peoples attention can anybody give me any ideas on this? How to put up a convincing argument to make them dream further?

It is easy to recognize that most people dream about having jobs that make money, thus giving them a degree of comfort, and happiness in that comfort. The starving artist stereotype should only be reserved for the masochists. The convincing argument would probably resort to something like: imagine this utopia, where we didn't have money and we all danced around the woods in our bare feet and gave each other high five's all the time. Okay, that isn't really all that convincing or realistic. If it were up to me, I would paint a future of all the artists, painters, teachers and whatnot who dreamed of being CEOs or doctors. You know, reverse the tables.

Custard - If you find the answer, please let me know. In Belize all the young people want to go to university to train for a job in an air-conditioned office in a bank or government department.

Custard & garza - it's all relative. Pakistan has a population of .175billion. Belize has a population of 300,000. Naturally most Pakistanis want to do stuff for their teeming population. Naturally most Belizeans want no more than to lie under a shady tree all day.

Write a story about a Pakistani lad who's studying pre-med anatomy at a US community college and is in danger of failing because it's real hard to do esl and he's not a great student anyway and he's so guilty from family pressure and expectation and to relax he joins a garage band playing his native tabla(s?) and it's a great breakthrough sound and they go viral and get all platinum and rich and video chicks and so forth. I think this has happened, or at least one or two Pakistan bands have made it foreign big or at least onto NPR. pp

Our official national motto is, and this is not a joke, it's on the flag, 'Sub Umbra Floreo' - Under the Shade I Flourish.

Swing my hammock and pass me a cold Belikin, I'm in Paradise.

And that's okay for me, I'm supposed to be retired. How do you inspire young people to want to get up and do what needs to be done to turn this tiny 'developing' country into a tiny 'developed' country?

Why not show a world where everyone achieves their goals of becoming Doctor's, Engineers and generally professionals.
Then list all of the infrastructure that would not be available in this utopian society because the staff are training to professional's themselves.
So, no food, farmers, public or private transport, entertainment, restaurants, fast-food outlets, books, singers, religion etc, etc.
You can take it as far as you want. Should be able to create a nice little nightmare scenario.

There's something similar in Spain, altho' I guess it's unofficial:

Well I didnt really expect so many answers in this much time but thanks guys. I would love to write the article like ppsage said but unfortunately its not supposed to be a story but maybe I can show Dukanes type here. i will have to ask the editor though. It is quite disturbing to me and after some research I have found that those people that want to be artists or anything of the like they are not allowed to do so. I have also consulted a few friends as to what problems they faced while doing this, thanks again for the help guys!

P.S Ox they dont want to do cr** for Pakistan most of them want to go abroad and work ( if you ask they will all say that they want to help pakistan) . Its just people like me that actually want to do something for Pakistan.
