You Critique Me, I Critique You

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to get some input on my novel up to the 10,000 words point. However, I would like to get some feedback before I go on any further, see how some readers react to it.

For conspicuous publishing reasons, I'm not able to post it here, so what I'm offering any taker is - I will critique anything you have up to 50,000 words, or even 80,000 words if I find it interesting.

In fact, I'll write you a 1500 word critique on your piece from top to bottom if I can get a good critique from you

I keep my words Trust me.

    My Genre is Comedy/Romance/High School/Romance

Let's get on it! Any takers!?

We can both upload and link via PM if the other does not wish to share their E-Mail with me. That's utterly fine

I am also looking for a critiquer. However I think you need to tweak the amount people read. That sounds like a substantial word count.

Hey namesake. I read your other thread and looks like you're looking for someone to read your 3500 word work? Sure, I can cut mine down to 10,000 but no less than that. In return I will give you a feedback that is more than adequate for you to improve. What do you say?

    Hello.

Sure, I like what you have told me. Let's pm the details so that we can read the stories. It's kind of late right now so we can email the work and later then we can gather our comments. I''ll send you a private message so expect something in your pm box. It will have my email address. I am looking foward to working wih you.

Um, if the story is 3500 words, why not post it in the Writer's Workshop? That way you get more than one critique. Just a thought, because it's not like you're hunting down a beta reader for a novel length project (anything from 30k-250k and beyond (though if you want to get nit-picky, 30k usually takes you into novella territory)).

Thanks namesake. If anybody else wants to join in with us, please do give me a shout.

    >>Candra; I suppose some people want to keep it strictly in private hands.

But the Writer's Workshop is private, i.e viewable to logged in members only. Or do you mean even more private than that? Which makes me wonder just exactly what it is you're all writing...

Well it is a in-depth critique. Unfortunately I'm not a english major. I think some people can do more constructive work with a beta-reader. But yes thanks, I do think I did go to a good person though for my problems. Thanks for your insight Candra. I will definetly do that in the future after this work. But you can't deny the fact that there are some advantages.

This is actually turning out great! It takes a level of dedication from both parties and both feedbacks are extremely insightful, and we can discuss things and know that an answer will come back from the other member. Pretty awesome.

    Such as?

I'm not trying to be an arsehole, just genuinely curious, because when I post critiques in the Workshop, I always revisit the thread to see what others and the writer have said. If the writer asks me a question or wants to discuss an issue further, I'll answer them and happily get involved in a discussion.

I guess I just don't understand the mentality of people who post a critique and thats it, who never return to the same thread. I do completely agree with you both that critiquing sessions should always be about a continuing back and forth between writer and critter, but, I don't know, maybe you both just havent created a rapport with posters in this forum's Workshop yet.

It's simply because with the amount which I have now(10k to 30k), it takes a certain degree of dedication to read it all. This private critique thing is like a metaphorical contract that you both sign into, and dedicate to. So you can always expect response to a question which isn't always true in the forum setting.

Candra, I know you have the good intention of 'happily getting involved in a discussion' but not everybody on the forum does, and so, to make things more efficient for us, we turn to individual study instead of a public setting.

Not saying I don't like public posting, I have posted 2 stories up so far and the response has been great! It's just that as a writer I was eager to get into further discussion.
