    Storyline question

Why do old men chase young women?

And why do young women respond affirmatively?

It’s just that I have an idea for a story involving such a pair, and figured that a bit of head stuff might help it along (no pun intended). So what motivates them?

That's easy. When I'm out with a young girl, say, in her early 50s, it makes me feel 20 years younger. And when she's with me, it's my bank card the waiter takes to the cashier, not hers.

Safety, older men are seen as having lost their wildness, they are not going to ping off at a tangent and leave her sitting there with two kids and no money. They are proud of their younger woman as well and treat her well, and I don't just mean financially. They give her attention, something most people enjoy getting, young men tend to forget about giving attention, so do a lot of older men, it gets lost in habit. But when men are in the company of a younger woman, she has their attention. That's not a bad gig for the more conservatively minded.

Mind you people have all sorts of tastes, come to all sorts of arrangements and bargains and play all sorts of games, really it's striking a believable balance between the fictional stereotypical and the unbelievable reality to produce something that is stereotypical enough to be believable and real enough to be interesting and not boring.

To pretend they're not getting older and eventually going to die. And because they're tight. taut. ahem...

And why do young women respond affirmatively?
This isn't as universal and as Garza says, is far more reliant on the bankcard if the age gap is significant. If not, then it's more about "being more experienced, knowing what they want and going for it"

    So what motivates them?
Sex, money, love, self-fulfillment, ego, social status. Not necessarily in that order.

    Because they're hot.

    Money, insecurity, fame

Do not think it a kindness.

Cant give much response to the first question other than speculation, me being female and all, but I'll have a go at the second.

If I was personally to go for an older man, it wouldnt be for his money. I'm not driven by a need for material comfort or security. For me it would be a search for intelligence and experience more than anything else. You know, the kind that comes from losing the need to constantly prove themselves to whoever will pay them any attention. That kind of "manly" bravado is what teenagers display until they learn better.

Anyway, just my two bob's worth. Hope it gives you a different angle for your story.

There's actually an evolution basis for it. When it comes to why men want younger women it's a fertility thing. Youth means they're about perfect for child bearing. The girls want older men because way back when we were running away from large predators it was impressive if you managed to get to be middle aged. Surviving that long meant good genes and they want those genes to be passed on to thier children. It's not a conscious thing, it's base instinct.
