Setting your story in the right period

as you all may know i am going to be writing stories about Faries the big ones and after the story with Mary that introduces key characters that will appeare in those stories now my dad suggested that i have my story set in the 1800's during the Victorean era well i should explain about the story it is about a boy named Terrance who is the half fae or fairy and half mortal son of a fairy queen name Queen Lunara and a mortal father and he learns about his heritage when he turns 16 and his mother comes to take him to the Fairyland. now if i set the story in the Victorean Era it would break the tradition of the victorean little fairy because my faries are based on the human-sized faries of folklore and the faries would also buck up aganist the traditions of the period because one they have women as warriors my fairy warriors which are the queens's bodyguards while women of the victorean period were different back then and the fairy court is like a medievel or fantasy setting contrasting with the proper setting of the victorean period so should i set my stories in the 1800's or in the modern era.

This is not really a question that anyone can answer but you, the writer. However, I would suggest you write in the time period that could spark more story ideas for you, and the one in which you feel more natural.

I want to see time-travelling fairies kidnap someone in the present day and take him back to 18th Century England to undergo proper fairy warrior training. Any military regiment would do, since we all know the English are a bunch of fairies, anyway. And you must use the words "swashbuckling" and "skipper" in every chapter at least once.

Fairies don't have to follow the same timeline as the real world around them. They can have a medieval style society, while the real world is in the 1920s.

I'd actually suggest picking something that's not cliche. But something that you can do research on.
