I'm. Working on a short story romance I'm not sure if it should be considered paranormal romance. Summery: as a child the black woman and her family(mom dad sister) worked as slaves to an old couple and their grandson eventually as years passed the sister was sold the parents died and the old slave owners died. The grandson took over the house and the only slave left on their 25th birthday which they share their life changes and what they thought what was wasnt they will discover the world of witches and find out their lives lived beyond their childhood and true love is put to the test.

Hi, I'm new here. The summary is intriguing. If the witches can do magic, it counts as supernatural. Don't be afraid to use commas in the actual story.
    Cheers,

This could be a great mix with a historical (slavery) background and voodoo-like magic. To make your magic more relevant to the actual characters, perhaps you could connect it to their ancestral roots - there are a number of superstitious and 'magical' traditions, handed down mostly by oral tradition and some art, throughout Africa, native Australia and the Caribbean. You could also include some Native American folklore or use the witch lore of the European colonists.
