    my query letter

Please tell me what you think. Would you go on to read the synopsis?

    Dear Ms.

Archaeologist Nora Mathews finds the possibility of recovering the greatest secrets of the ancient world too fantastic to ignore. She believes scrolls, rescued from the library at Alexandria as it burned in 48 BC, are buried in a shipwreck. At the risk of being branded a treasure hunter, Nora is determined to unearth what may be the find of a lifetime. She and her team quickly set about excavating the boat in the ancient seaport of Ephesus. They have no idea they’re being observed by a mysterious cult that believes the priceless scrolls rightfully belong to them.

When the cult learns Nora is about to drag the treasure from the wreck they begin a campaign to retrieve the scrolls. Break-ins, blackmail, abductions, car chases, even murder are not enough to scare off the passionate archaeologist. What began as an exciting excavation has become an almost manic quest for the lost knowledge of the ancient world. However, Nora is running out of time and courage, and forces herself to face the alternatives. After two unsuccessful digs, her reputation cannot stand another failure. She must decide whether to risk her life to continue the undertaking or give up the career-making discovery.

THE CARTHAGE CONNECTION is a thriller complete at 87,000 words.

In accordance with your submission requirements, I have included my synopsis below.

    Thank you for your consideration.

It's an interesting idea. I'm intrigued. The only piece of advice I would give you (and I'm not published by any means, so take it as you will) is that I'd add a sentence or two about your main character, who she is as a person, what her life has been like, just to give the reviewer a taste of who 'she' will be reading about. Also, yes I would read the synopsis.
