    Co Authors ?

I have a question. Would a publisher be more hesitant to take a chance on a new author if the book they pitched was a collaborative novel ? I ask because I have a project I'm working on with a friend and I'm not sure whether to pitch my solo stuff first and (hopefully) get my name out there.

The story comes first. If it's good, it won't matter who wrote it.

Co-authoring can work if one of you has already been published. Some published authors will cowrite a book with a family member or close friend to help get them in the market. But I'm thinking that you mean two unpublished writers... in which case, you can refer to Mike's post.

I don't imagine it will make it any easier. But neither will it make it more difficult. I would think the hardest part would be writing the novel with someone else and having it have a consistent voice and such. I wouldn't worry about publishers until the novel is done.

I agree, I don't think it'll make any difference, unless your co-author is well known already.
